SHEET METAL DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN (STARLINK)

At SpaceX we’re leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to 3M+ users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites, consumer antennae that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink’s potential global impact and are looking for best-in-class technicians to help maximize Starlink’s utility for communities and businesses around the globe.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Waterjet Operation including programing, nesting, material procurement and loading
  • Laser Operation including programing, nesting, material procurement and loading
  • Press Brake Operation including programing bend parameters and machine setup
  • Find novel ways to produce complex sheet metal assemblies, occasionally without design definition
  • Maintain a clean work environment
  • Maintain an organize material area including managing material auto re-order
  • Providing our customers with cleaned, deburred and complete parts
  • Propose design recommendations to engineering teams to make faster, simpler parts
  • Perform basic machine maintenance for high uptime
  • Able to navigate NX for design, repair of bad incoming parts, machine setup, and programing

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 4+ years of professional experience running a waterjet and/or a laser cutter
  • 1+ years of experience with press brake operations

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to meet daily/weekly production needs with critical time schedules
  • Ability to read blueprints and complete basic shop math
  • Knowledge of sheet metal k factors and its application
  • Ability to hold close tolerances on sheet metal parts per engineering drawings

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to work all required shift hours, overtime and/or weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:    Sheet Metal Development Technician/Level 1: $22.00 - $29.00/hour    Sheet Metal Development Technician/Level 2: $27.00 - $34.50/hour    Sheet Metal Development Technician/Level 3: $32.00 - $40.00/hour   

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
