Software Engineer - Defense Tooling
We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments.
About SeoulApplied Intuition entered the Korean market in 2020. The team has rapidly grown over the past few years and established strategic relationships with major Korean automotive OEM customers. Based in Gangnam, the Seoul site consists of more than 10 employees who previously come from LG, Ansys, Unity, and other renowned companies.
About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our Korea office to build the simulation and AI tooling that powers autonomous defense systems. This on-site role focuses on developing Applied Intuition's defense product suite, lead and mentor engineers, collaborate frequently with our U.S. team, and engage with customers in the autonomy and defense domains through meetings and presentations to deliver high-quality, reliable, and scalable products in a dynamic environment. You will collaborate frequently with our U.S. product engineering team, and engage with Korean defense customers to translate their operational requirements into product capabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain score features of Applied Intuition's defense tooling products, ensuring robust and scalable performance for defense-grade workloads.
- Collaborate frequently with US-based product and engineering teams to deliver features on shared roadmaps, operating as the Korea-based extension of the global product teams.
- Contribute to system-level design and architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Mentor and lead junior engineers, fostering their technical growth and ensuring team success.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD to maintain product-quality deliverables.
- Stay updated on advancements in AI/ML, computer vision, and reinforcement learning to drive innovation.
- Engage with customers in the autonomy and defense domains through meetings and presentations to communicate technical solutions and project progress.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment.
- Proven track record of delivering software solutions within agile, high-frequency release cycles.
- Experience building simulation platforms, ML training infrastructure, or developer tooling — ideally for robotics, autonomy, or defense applications.
- Experience with reinforcement learning frameworks and/or simulation engines.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar.
- Experience working on complex, multidisciplinary projects in a collaborative team setting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective daily collaboration with the USA team and documentation.
- Strong meeting and presentation skills, with experience communicating technical concepts to customers in the autonomy and defense domains.
- Familiarity with ATR, drone swarming, path planning, or aerospace control systems as a domain user perspective informing tool design.
- Experience in the aerial domain and unmanned autonomy stack development.
- Experience in closed-network / air-gapped deployment environments common in defense.
- Build the products that the Korean and global defense ecosystem relies on for autonomy development.
