About the jobThis position is needed to build the next generation of Programmable Contact Center.
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to join our globally distributed Flex R&D organization on Flex Billing team located mostly in Tallinn. This person will play a significant role in the Flex solution creation, experience development, bringing solutions to customers, ensuring real time connectivity to Twilio’s vast communication offerings. They will work closely with a group of talented engineers towards implementing and delivering the next generation of Twilio Flex.
ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you’ll:
- Work on the design and implementation of significant new features end-to-end.
- Collaborate with other Flex teams based in Europe, US, and India, and other Twilio teams that are globally distributed.
- Work directly with engineering teams as well as members of the product organization, architects and external partners to distill product requirements and customer use cases into architecture, technical design, and code.
- Adopt engineering best practices to deliver, secure, maintainable and scalable software.
- Cultivate an atmosphere of quality by championing testing standard methodologies and engineering efficiency.
- Ensure new features’ stability and supportability by living the spirit of SRE best practices.
- Learn and apply edge-cutting technology and work on best industry platforms at scale.

Required:
Twilio is looking for an engineer who lives the Twilio Magic values and has:
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, developing and maintaining high traffic, data-driven, world-class backend services.
- Well versed understanding on using REST APIs.
- Experience with build patterns from architecture to automated build and test pipelines and test-driven development, preferably in Java, and microservice architecture stacks.
- Experience delivering applications in a distributed team environment.
- Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills.
- Desire to make an impact and thrive in small, collaborative, energetic teams. Ability to work with your team towards common goals.
Desired:
- Hands on experiences with AWS cloud technologies
- Any experience with Docker, Terraform or Kafka is a plus.
Location
This role will be based in our Tallinn, Estonia office or remotely in Estonia.
