Our Opportunity:

Chewy is seeking a Software Engineer for its Fulfillment Automation Team with work locations available in Minneapolis, Seattle, and Boston. In this role you will be a key member of a diverse engineering team that researches, develops, tests, and deploys scalable advanced industrial automation, robotic systems, and warehouse control system software to support the growth of Chewy’s fulfillment operations across an extensive network of fulfillment centers. What You’ll Do:

You will work across a cross-functional team of hardware, robotics, and software engineers to introduce new automation technologies to Chewy's fulfillment centers.

  • Design and develop software applications that integrate with advanced industrial automation and robotic systems
  • Partner with internal software teams to integrate with other automation and warehouse systems
  • Work with internal operations stakeholders to obtain system feedback and measure system performance
  • Develop modular, highly available, secure, performant, reliable, and scalable production-ready systems using the latest technologies available
  • Test concepts and features through simulators, emulators, and with live equipment
  • Leverage and champion best practices that enable automated test and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Engineering or related field) or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • Current permanent U.S. work authorization is required
  • Experience leading the design (data structures, algorithms, performance, reliability, and scalability) and development of new software programs
  • Ability to program in Java, Python, or other related modern programming language
  • Experience with cloud native technology stacks such as AWS
  • Experience designing scalable RESTful services and APIs
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipeline including containerization, configuration management, and deployment
  • Ability to simultaneously support multiple high priority projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel as needed

Bonus (if applicable):

  • Experience designing and building software for industrial automation and robotic systems
  • Experience with AWS IoT services
  • Experience with scalable deployment technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
