We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Revenue Accounting Operations to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play the lead role in being responsible for global US GAAP revenue accounting, close, and reporting. Responsibilities include establishing scalable revenue processes, policies, and procedures while ensuring that the revenue accounting function's roadmap is aligned with the company's overall strategic objectives and support its growth plan. In addition, this role emphasizes developing people, enhancing processes and controls, and effective cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic and rapidly growth environment. This position will report to VP of Revenue Accounting and Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead revenue accounting operations to ensure timely and accurate accounting of monthly close and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Deal Desk, Sales, and legal teams to ensure proper revenue recognition via contract reviews, while providing guidance and training to the cross-functional teams on revenue recognition principles and practices.
  • Develop and implement revenue recognition policies and procedures. Stay updated on changes in revenue standards to ensure the company's practices are up to date. Resolve any discrepancies or disputes in revenue recognition in a timely and effective manner.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams for new product and process enhancement to ensure proper implementation of technical and operational revenue processes.
  • Work closely with company's external auditors to ensure approved revenue policies are consistently adhered to and monitored, and to support quarterly/annual audits.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the team on revenue cycle processes, policies, and procedures as well as guide and motivate a team of accounting professionals to grow their career, including development of technical and soft skills and fostering a collaborative, inclusive and efficient work environment.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements across various functions to enhance efficiency and accuracy in revenue recognition.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of leadership experience with revenue accounting and reporting, including experience working in a publicly traded SaaS Company
  • CPA and in-depth knowledge of Revenue Recognition standards (ASC 606) are required, Big-4 experience will be a strong plus
  • Demonstrated success in leading revenue accounting functions through rapid growth and expanding product offerings, with a proven track record to develop and execute effective strategies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a proven track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Extensive experience in establishing and standardizing policies, processes, procedures, and controls around revenue recognition that are SOX-compliant.
  • Proven experience in leading improvement of systems, processes and data automation initiatives.
  • Proficiency in relevant enterprise SaaS tools (i.e.: SFDC, NS, RevPro, BigQuery)

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.
