The Custom Learning Design Manager will be responsible for executing custom program design and development, with expertise in software development and/or data analytics. This includes curriculum design, development, and contextualization of content for client-directed curricula. In this role, the manager will provide consultative product expertise to the sales process, direct design efforts post-sale, and own design for high-priority clients. This will be a “working manager” role that may progressively begin to manage full-time, contract, and temporary resources but will maintain their own portfolio of client projects that they directly execute. 

Ideal candidate will be located in the U.S. or in the U.K.; however, this role has flexibility to be 100% remote.

Key Responsibilities: 

Sales Engineering & Discovery

  • Support Account Directors throughout the sales funnel (e.g., working sessions, proposal development, pitch meetings) by establishing consultative, advisory relationships with client stakeholders.
  • Lead need-analysis sessions with clients to scope and uncover organizational training needs or define learning objectives within identified areas of interest.
  • Make product recommendations to achieve the client’s objectives, or advise on conditions and constraints for when GA is not well suited to deliver.

Design & Development

  • Own full design process for complex or high-priority engagements.
  • Guide team members onto client projects post-sale to share context and next steps/resources for content build.
  • Oversee learning outcomes of programs developed by pod/team members. Evaluate program success.

Team Management

  • As the team grows, manage and coach a small team/pod of team members and oversee quality of client interactions and deliverables.
  • Own the development and optimization of design process and team operations.
  • Help hire and onboard new designers to GA’s processes and best practices.

Productization

  • Partner with Product colleagues for disciplines to maintain, create, or expand new products for GA portfolio, and explore new opportunities in the market.
  • Participate in workshop standardization initiative through collaboration with GA Product and Sales teams.

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 7 years of leading and developing curricula for technology training programs, specifically software engineering, data analytics, and generative AI or other related disciplines.
  • 3 to 5 years leadership or supervisory experience
  • 1-2 years of experience designing technical courses 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or related field; Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design Systems (LSD), or other related fields preferred
  • Experience working with rapid development models, including standardized, repeatable practices delivered within tight timelines
  • Experience interfacing with and presenting to clients, including executives, functional leaders, subject matters experts, L&D leaders, and constituents
  • Willingness to flex your schedule to join meetings in different timezones, particularly in the United States and Europe, Middle East, and Asia
  • Previous experience in successfully managing high functioning client-centered instructional design teams
