About the role:

Join us! The Classy team is searching for our next Staff Data Scientist to develop cutting edge predictive and machine learning data products. You will collaborate with an accomplished team of individuals to drive impact for our users and our business.

 

What you’ll accomplish:

  • Provide technical leadership and be responsible for guiding the development of statistical and machine learning models
  • Perform research and analytics to identify key drivers of donor giving behavior
  • Work closely with other data scientists, machine learning engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to successfully implement machine learning projects.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define long-term machine learning strategy, identifying opportunities to leverage data for business growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the design, development and deployment of advanced machine learning models, algorithms, and data pipelines to solve complex problems and improve business processes.

 

What you bring (Required):

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in data science, statistics, and/or machine learning with a proven track record of successfully leading complex projects.
  • Experience developing large-scale predictive models that have been deployed into production
  • Python expertise (Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-Learn, Pytorch, Scipy, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of machine learning algorithms, including a deep understanding of statistical modeling
  • Regression, classification, and time series predictive modeling expertise
  • Proficiency in SQL and analytical warehouses (Snowflake)
  • Demonstrated ability to elevate the Data Science discipline and foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill, with the ability to apply creative solutions to real-world challenges.
  • Comfortable experimenting with and incorporating cutting-edge techniques into our existing system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What would be awesome to have (preferred):

  • A Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Data Science or related field is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience building data products and ML tools for personalizing user experiences
  • Prior experience with pricing predictions and/or time-series forecasting

The total annual salary for this full-time position is $135,000 - $180,000 + equity + benefits.  As this is a remote position, the salary range was determined by role, level, and possible location across the US. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
