Staff Engineer (f/m/x) - Supply Chain Management
Supply Chain Management (SCM) is at the core of HelloFresh and the foundation for everything we do. All HelloFresh processes rely on SCM Tech to operate. We manage the contracts with our suppliers, place orders, control the receipt of goods, and manage inventory efficiently by unleashing the power of algorithms, data, and machine learning. At the same time, we keep a close connection with different areas of the company, from Finance to Operations. Our challenge is to improve efficiency and reduce waste across the supply chain. Our vision is to build the world’s leading, scalable, fully-integrated food supply chain management platform.
The roleAs a Staff Engineer in our Supply Chain Management organization, you will be responsible for defining, securing, and implementing technical solutions for business problems. You will look after speeding up development, decision-making, and problem-solving. You will work with our neighboring teams to ensure that our efforts aim to achieve a clearer architecture and boundaries between tech teams to support autonomy. You will communicate directly with our business stakeholders and multiple tech teams supporting local markets. You will report to the Director of Engineering in the Procurement tribe. This role does not include people management responsibilities.

What you’ll do- Assume technical leadership within a tribe and own the most challenging tech decisions, including architecture, design, development, deployment, and operational excellence.
- Support the teams in the architectural design and help to maintain architectural integrity in the scope of the tribe and beyond.
- Spend a significant portion of your time writing code based on organization needs.
- Solve software problems that have visible risks, roadblocks, and constraints. Examples might include legacy dependencies, data quality, compliance, and architecture or technology limitations.
- Ideally, 10+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in a staff/principal level capacity and technical leadership.
- Strong capability in working with different stakeholders and experience addressing physical world problems with software solutions.
- Solid problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of a couple of programming languages. Experience with or willingness to learn Kotlin and Golang, and data engineering fundamentals.
- Expertise in designing and implementing modular systems, including proficiency in synchronous/asynchronous communication.
- A team player attitude and a passion for helping others grow through peer-to-peer mentoring, knowledge-sharing sessions, and advocating for best engineering practices, such as CI/CD, TDD, BDD, DDD, and Design Patterns.
