Role Description As a Staff Product Designer focused on Platform experiences, your mission will be evolving platform surfaces to meet customers’ growing needs as product offerings expand and technology advances. You will use design as a tool to ensure Dropbox ships foundational customer experiences that prioritize security, privacy, and control while meeting our product principles of “it just works” and “push it to premium.” You will discover, pitch, and lead projects. You’ll be asked to lead work independently, win people over, and most of all be motivated by getting into the pixels and inspiring those around you to ship incredible work. As a senior design leader, you will operate in ambiguous terrain and often navigate the best way to address business challenges or technical constraints while tactfully pushing aspirational, customer-centered ideas and roadmaps.   Your role will be threefold;
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional partners in and outside of the Platform team to build high quality foundational experiences that are coherent across Dropbox’s product offerings.
  • Identify and drive initiatives that have high value to our business and our customers. 
  • Ensure excellent Product Design craft in your own work and across the organization, working with our talented Design Directors, Product Designers, Brand Leads, Research Leads and Content Designers to highlight and focus us down on sweating the right details for our customers.

Responsibilities
  • Problem Opportunity & Framing; Proactively discover line of business or product line level opportunities whose justifications are extremely challenging. Bring clarity and insight to problems that are highly ambiguous by integrating novel user, business, and technical constraints into a compelling narrative.
  • Ownership; of initiatives and projects that you proactively define, with the partnership and support of Design Leadership Team and Platform leadership. When you encounter barriers, you unblock the team by assessing and eliminating the root cause, including recommending process and scale improvements.
  • Execution; Work across the entire design organization to ensure that the quality of craft execution and our design practices are to the high standards that our business and customers expect. 
  • Strategy; Create strategic vision work and influence strategic action for entire product line or business units. Create plans that are coherent, persuasive, and leveraged to instill broad alignment and action.
  • Interaction Design; Define highly durable, company standard UX solutions for challenging problems. You are able to develop innovative patterns that set a new standard for interaction across a line of business or product suite.
  • Collaboration; Help break down silos within and across functions and influence others to reach the best outcome for Dropbox. Engage in productive conflict with thoughtful questioning and have the courage to state your point of view.
  • Key partners; Design Leadership Team, Extended Design Leadership Team, Platform team leadership & cross-functional collaborators
Requirements
  • 8-10+ years experience in a senior Individual Contributor role. 
  • Experience building products in a remote or distributed team environment.  
  • Demonstrated portfolio of shipping amazing customer experiences that have made a significant impact on business and customer metrics.
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Exceptional interaction design skills, including prototyping and systems design.
  • Deep organization and execution capabilities, especially in areas of influence and collaboration with multiple stakeholder groups
  • Excellent written/verbal communication - an engaging storyteller. Proven ability to hold conversations on design with executives and external industry leaders.
  • Experience in design thinking methodologies to lead teams toward customer centered outcomes 
Total Rewards Canada Pay Range$166,200—$224,800 CAD
