Why Mozilla?
Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser, and Pocket, a service for keeping up with the best content online. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we’re shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies. Our work focuses on diverse areas including AI, social media, security and more. And we’re doing this while never losing our focus on our core mission – to make the internet better for people.
The Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the non-profit 501(c) Mozilla Foundation. This means we aren’t beholden to any shareholders — only to our mission. Along with thousands of volunteer contributors and collaborators all over the world, Mozillians design, build and distribute open-source software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.
About The Role:
We are looking for a Public Policy Manager to join our dynamic team at the Mozilla Corporation.
In this role you will help shape technology policy in ways that reflect our mission and the products we create to keep the web open through responsible innovation. You’ll work closely with governments, regulators, civil society, industry and internal teams to support our products and advance public interest outcomes in areas like privacy, competition, AI governance, and online security.
You will have a strong focus on Europe, but will support the business more globally as needed, and regularly interact with colleagues in other geographies.
This is a high-impact role for someone who understands both the policymaking process and the technical landscape —and who can help craft creative campaigning and partnership approaches to help build a better internet.
You will collaborate with our internal product and engineering teams to provide expert advice on public policy implications related to the rollout of new products in different markets.
As this role involves working with multiple stakeholders across teams, geographies and Mozilla entities, strong project management and organisational skills will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage on technology issues and political files key to our business, including data privacy, competition, security, AI, and open source.
- Be a visible external advocate for our work through engaging with policymakers, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to advocate for policy frameworks that support the open web and Mozilla’s product initiatives.
- Work with colleagues to develop research projects, white papers, and partnerships to contribute to thinking on shared technology policy challenges around the role of browsers, browser engines, reform in the ads industry and the open web.
- Articulate Mozilla’s policy positions through briefings, public comments, blog posts, and op-eds.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and actionable policy insights and recommendations.
- Coordinate with other teams and Mozilla entities to ensure consistency in policy positions and advocacy efforts across different jurisdictions.
- Monitor, analyse, and communicate internally about emerging policy issues, regulatory developments, and global trends affecting Mozilla's products and services.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, communications, marketing, product, and engineering teams to ensure policy alignment with Mozilla’s business and mission.
- As this is a global role, some travel will be required (on average up to 15%)
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in public policy, law, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in public policy, legal, or a related field, preferably with a focus on technology and digital policy.
- Strong understanding of the tech industry and digital policy landscape.
- Proven ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, product managers, and other technical experts.
- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex issues clearly and with precision.
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills, with a track record of effective external representation.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
What you’ll get:
- Generous performance-based bonus plans to all eligible employees - we share in our success as one team
- Rich medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Generous retirement contributions with 100% immediate vesting (regardless of whether you contribute)
- Quarterly all-company wellness days where everyone takes a pause together
- Country specific holidays plus a day off for your birthday
- One-time home office stipend
- Annual professional development budget
- Quarterly well-being stipend
- Considerable paid parental leave
- Employee referral bonus program
Other benefits (life/AD&D, disability, EAP, etc.
