SUPERVISOR, MACHINING OPERATIONS

The Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for all machining processes within the shop. This candidate will be tasked with ensuring all areas of the shop are meeting site goals. Key components of this position will be reporting to machine shop management, troubleshooting shop issues, working with machinist, design engineers, and other test groups to execute projects or parts effectively. The candidate should have strong emotional intelligence that can drive change and be prepared to hold teams accountable professionally.

RESPOSNSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises and provides daily support to the Test Technician Operations team:
    • Assesses candidates, and provides recommendations in the hiring process
    • Plans and scheduling work, assigns work, and assesses completed work
    • Visualizes future impacts and needs for the team
    • Encourages employees to get tasks based on team and program deadlines
    • Ensures employees have the training, tools, and materials needed to carry out their duties
    • Monitors and approves employee time keeping records
    • Reviews productivity and actions of team members
    • Communicates how successful performance will be measured and provides collaborative direction to team members
    • Maintains quality and quantity of work while checking and inspecting jobs
    • Ensures team is taking preventative measures to ensure safety precautions
    • Leads by example by being a solid role model for the team
    • Facilitates a collaborative environment by taking others inputs into account when deciding on strategic initiatives
  • Ensures all work order tickets are completed on time and to specification
  • Mentors and leads shop employees
  • Supervises the production flow within the machine shop, ensuring safety and the efficiency of the entire shop floor
  • Reviews work instructions with planners to ensure shop floor machinist have accurate and complete instructions and, if necessary, recommends changes
  • Performs other duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring n efficient and effective work environment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 5+ years of experience working as a CNC machinist
  • 1+ years of experience operating multi axis CNC mills (up to 5 axis) and lathes
  • 3+ years of prior leadership experience leading teams, projects, or people
  • 2+ years of experience programming MasterCam and G-Code

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of lean principles and Six Sigma
  • Extensive experience in the troubleshooting of manufacturing operations that include all machining processes
  • Experience in assisting of the conversion of operator heavy machining processes into lights out machining scenarios
  • Experience in leading machinists and technicians to work with CNC programmers, M.E's and Q.E.'s on process development and continuous improvement efforts
  • Experience in maintaining high resource utilization
  • Experience in developing teams within a machining cell to create a ratio of 1 machining tech to 3-4 machines
  • Experience in converting legacy processes into semi- or fully automated solutions for high quality machining
  • Ability to read and interpret all blue prints and engineering drawings
  • Well versed in GD&T and inspection procedures and processes
  • Experience working with machine shop tracking metrics
  • Experience working with outside departments to develop production plans and set schedule parameters

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, and lifting 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
  • Must be available for overtime and weekends as the schedule caries depending on site operational needs. Flexibility is required
  • Valid driver's license

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:                  

Pay range:      Supervisor: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year         

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
