Test Automation Engineer
Marketing Technology development as your next step?
The Story
During the past year or two we’ve been modernizing our ways of working, technology stack and architecture. This program will still ongo for a few years to enable our long term success. In the past testing has been done the old fashioned way: by devs (proper unit test practices are already there) and business stakeholders. Sounds stereotypical but also not right on the same time? There is a major buy-in by the development teams and Liana’s leadership that we need to formalize our QA processes and focus on test automation development.
The Role
We are looking for a skilled Test Automation lead to embark us to the era of test automation. Basic knowledge of manual testing philosophies won’t hurt, as long as you know the automation parts. Release and environment management is already on a decent level here. You don’t need to do everything by yourself, as the team and our development community will be backing you quite a bit, but we need someone to introduce the relevant technologies and actually implement the tests on a wide scale.
Your field of work will be limited primarily to a single Scrum team as long as the technological solutions provided are extendable for other teams as well. If things go as planned, more QA engineers will follow eventually.
Who are we looking for?
A test automation engineer who has the capability to start implementing test automation from scratch is the missing piece. This also includes making technology decisions with the team and the community. A proven track record of different automation tools and technologies is needed. Knowledge of other areas of Quality Assurance like manual testing or performance testing is warmly welcome but not mandated. Knowledge of modern CI/CD practices is also a plus, but you’ll get proper support with this stuff.
From the soft values perspective, a dedicated team player and a fluent communicator is required. Willingness to create and contribute to meaningful documentation and reporting is a must.
Technology wise we are really open for suggestions on what we should implement. Our services are typical web applications that have extensive APIs. Technology buzzword wise we’d have the following: Gitlab, GCP, Linux, PHP, Go, REST, GraphQL, PostgreSQL etc. Items like AI are also in the roadmap. How would you test those?
Liana’s working language is English, so Finnish is not required.
What we provide
You'll get a lot of freedom to make decisions on the technologies and practicalities when building the automation framework for Liana. From industry point of view, we are the biggest players in Finland in the Marketing Technology field.
Our HQ is in Oulu, but we have an office in Helsinki as well. We can also arrange up to 100% remote contracts within Finland.
Employee benefits like extensive medical insurance (including leisure), culture / sports / lunch benefits are a norm for us. We also realize that work is not the most important part of life - a meaningful and flexible work life balance is of upmost importance here.
We've been thinking that the salary for this role would land somewhere 3,7-5k€/month depending on the candidate.
