The team you’ll join
StepStone Private Debt (SPD) is a global private debt investor with over $71B in AUM/AUA including $12B based on the latest Q2 firm figures. SPD covers the breadth of the private debt market and constructs bespoke portfolios on a primary, secondary and co-investment basis. SPD focuses on two areas of the market: performing and non-performing debt across the corporate, real estate, and infrastructure sectors. SPD is a subsidiary of the StepStone Group, a global private markets firm specializing in Private Equity, Infrastructure, Private Credit and Real Estate.
About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Intern to join our private debt data management team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing data, analysing and communicating company fundamental and reference data, and ensuring the accurate and timely entry of information into our systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, a solid grasp of financial data, strong communication skills, and a strong desire to thrive in a dynamic, data-driven environment.
Key responsibilities
Financial & Company Fundamentals Analysis
- Review, validate, and interpret company financial statements, performance metrics, and other fundamental data.
- Process and structure financial and operational data within internal systems to support downstream analysis by multiple teams.
Reference Data & Security Master Support
- Support the Security Master function by gathering, verifying, and maintaining accurate borrower and facility reference data.
- Ensure timely updates and alignment of reference data across systems.
Data Management & Maintenance
- Collect, upload, and maintain private debt–related financial and transactional data in internal databases.
- Ensure ongoing data consistency, completeness, and accuracy across platforms.
Data Quality Assurance
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies or anomalies in financial and operational data.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to uphold data integrity and quality standards.
Reporting & Documentation
- Produce and distribute regular team KPIs, operational updates, and management reports.
- Maintain and update process documentation to support transparency, standardization, and knowledge sharing.
Project & Team Support
- Assist with ad‑hoc analyses and ongoing team initiatives, including process improvements and system enhancements.
Mailbox Management & Task Coordination
- Act as a central point of contact for team communications.
- Monitor, prioritise, and manage shared mailboxes to ensure timely handling and resolution of requests.
What we’re looking for
- Must be able to work legally in Ireland without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Pursuing a university Degree in Finance, Business, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Undergraduate student graduating anywhere from December 2027 through June 2028.
- Be able to work full time in our Dublin office September 2026 – August 2027.
- Interest in Private markets, particularly private debt, is an advantage.
- Strong interest in companies balance sheet and income statement including key metrics such as EBITDA, leverage ratios, and debt covenants is a plus
- Interested in Microsoft Excel, with experience in data validation and financial modelling. Familiarity with database tools is an advantage.
- Keen attention to detail and a structured approach to data review and management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of corporate financial performance.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate financial concepts effectively.
- An interest in private debt markets and a willingness to expand knowledge in this area.
