Role: Account Director

Location: London, England United Kingdom

ROLE MISSION – Account Director

An Account Director spot has opened up on our dynamic team and we are looking for your creative & marketing expertise to join our talented and busy crew in this client facing role.

Working in partnership with our client and our large, multi-talented team, our Account Directors lead the way with the creation of powerful, impactful and effective comms for two renowned UK brands, Barclays and Barclaycard.

You’ll be guiding a strong team of Senior Project Managers and Project Managers in mastering great synergy with our fabulous client teams and steering brilliant creative comms across a variety of channels, products and audiences.

LOCATION:  This is a hybrid model role and we split our time between the office and working from home. The office is at Canary Wharf – London, with attendance required 2 days per week (currently Wednesday and Thursday) and you need to be within commutable distance from there. On occasion you may also need to be at our Exmouth Market office on another day of the week.

THIS ROLE IS RIGHT FOR YOU IF...

You’re someone who thrives on shared successes, especially as part of a team that’s making waves with award-winning work. Unexpected turns energise you, and you take challenges head-on, inspiring your entire team to find solutions and stay the course. Your positive spirit keeps your sleeves rolled up, always ready to seize every opportunity.

You’ll be the kind of person who is great with clients and thinks on their feet. You relish adding value throughout the end-to-end creative process, adding your unique touch at every turn.

Ideally, you’ll have experience of Financial Services or other large-scale accounts in regulated industries, such as utilities or telecoms and experience across multiple channels – because we do the lot, from TV to DOOH to press to 121 to display, social and content.

You’ll already be an Account Director looking for bigger challenges on a larger account where you can hone your existing skills and cultivate new ones.

ABOUT THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING

We have more than 100 people working on Barclays and Barclaycard, most of whom are 100% dedicated and lots working in client seconded roles.  This role sits within our core agency team of around 50.

You’ll report to one of our London-based Group Account Directors as part of a 15 strong Client Services team.  Every day you’ll have contact with our multi-disciplinary creative and production teams as well as our Traffic guardians who ensure we are efficient as well as brilliant.  You’ll line manage at least one of the team and lead others on projects too.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE

  • Working collaboratively with our client teams to deliver a wide range of marketing projects across different channels
  • Building strong relationships with our core team, the wider Oliver team and all your clients
  • Owning the execution and delivery of projects, run rates and client satisfaction through catch ups with project owners and the weekly account/project management WIP
  • Leading project managers working on projects with you and taking responsibility for their delivery, attention to detail, quality and relationships
  • Line managing at least one of our Senior Project Managers, setting objectives and helping them meet their career objectives
  • Escalating any service, quality or process issues to the leadership team where needed
  • Leading and managing your projects in terms of profitability, forecasting, client budget management and tracking

WHAT SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WILL HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Excellent people and client engagement skills with the ability to proactively organise and influence clients, building strong and effective working relationships
  • Excellent account leadership skills with financial and commercial acumen, creative judgment, and the ability to think strategically
  • Experience across the full range of marketing channels and the curiosity to learn about and experience new ones as they approach mainstream adoption - from TV and DOOH to email and social, starting with creative concept right through to final delivery
  • First-rate communication and storytelling skills, in person, online, in email and on PowerPoint – with a preference for picking up the phone rather than sending an email
  • Strong creative appreciation with the ability blend creativity and practicality, to spark ideas and actively contribute to our creative journey
  • The confidence, empathy and pragmatism to allow you to stand up for what we think is creatively and strategically right – but recognise stakeholder demands on our client teams
  • The ability to manage and develop junior team members
  • The ability to effortlessly mesh with our team, forge meaningful connections and contribute substantial value
  • The ambition to learn, develop and progress
  • Experience of Financial Services or other large-scale accounts in regulated industries, such as utilities or telecoms
  • 5 years+ agency experience; you’ll already be working at Account Director level
