The Strategic Ops Finance (SOF) team works collaboratively with various teams across the Transportation & Delivery team to drive fiscal accountability, provide visibility into actual performance against plans and shape our forecast based on most current trends and business needs. Our work provides the business with critical financial insights that directly impact the future direction of Wayfair's Operations. We enjoy tackling challenging problems and translating quantitative analyses into broader, strategic business implications. 

This is a highly visible role within Wayfair and ideal for someone who wants to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative and data-driven environment. Within SOF we partner closely with Procurement Managers, Network Strategy Orchestration and Execution teams to deliver a comprehensive understanding of our operational cost drivers within our internal and external transportation network. We are looking for a new analyst and project specialist who will take a creative approach and use quantitative skills to help drive Global Supply Chain strategies.

This is a full time hybrid role: Monday to Thursday in the office, Friday - remote.

This position is limited to two years with the option of extension.

What you’ll do: 

  • Translate high-level business problems into more specific questions which can then be answered by data-driven analysis
  • Partner with various business stakeholders to identify key factors and requirements for each project, and obtain buy-in or resources for project execution
  • Serve as a strategic finance partner for the Transportation & Delivery team to size impacts of initiatives and their cost implications. 
  • Support on the Monthly Business Review meetings to call out trends and cost savings opportunities to business leaders. 
  • Collaborate closely with Finance Leadership on a quarterly basis to conduct a financial health check and forecast operational spend for the next 12-24 months. 
  • Collaborate with the Profitability Management and the Strategic Corporate Finance team to identify areas of opportunity for cost savings and margin optimization.
  • Become an expert of the transportation costs at Wayfair.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor performance and identify areas of improvement. 

Who you are: 

  • Candidates must have (finance, economics, and/or business analytics) bachelor’s degree and ~1 year of experience in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills that put you at ease with financial data.
  • Experience working within large datasets and resourcefulness in obtaining data when clean and/or complete information is not available.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to effectively convey insights from analyses to senior leadership.
  • Excellent organization skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Passionate about solving complex business problems
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and SQL skills are preferred
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Looker, PowerBi or Tableau.
