Position Overview:

As part of StepStone’s Portfolio Analytics and Reporting (“SPAR”) team focused on our Private Equity Asset Class, the Analyst will be responsible for client reporting and data-related activities. The Analyst will work closely with other client service members and all relevant departments to support client needs and the Department/Firm at large.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitor and report on the investment activity and performance of leading private markets firms.
  • Use performance reporting systems and analytics dashboard tools (e.g., Power BI) to compile accurate and timely reports internally and for external deliverables.
  • Process and reconcile quarterly reports, capital account information, and cash flow activity of monitored funds, providing data for client reports.
  • Manage data requests and reporting deadlines for assigned clients.
  • Actively collaborate with various SPAR Client Teams to gather and consolidate all required information, ensuring deliverables adhere to SPAR’s global reporting master template standards.
  • Assist in execution and oversight of the full lifecycle of periodic reporting processes, ensuring proper data practices, methodologies, and attention to detail are applied.
  • Leverage solid MS Excel skills, including pivot tables, to organize, analyze, and present data effectively.
  • Demonstrate an inquisitive mindset, proactively seeking solutions to challenges.
  • Remain organized while adjusting to competing demands, striving to exceed rather than meet deadlines.
  • Develop a deep understanding of reporting tools, industry best practices, and proprietary systems to drive reporting excellence.
  • Assist the team with regular periodic reporting tasks as well as ad hoc projects and client-related requests as needed.

Secondary responsibilities may include:

  • Conduct individual and cross-sectional portfolio analysis, focusing on market trends by strategy, sector, and geography.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of new and enhanced data-related content for client deliverables.
  • Prepare presentations and visuals as required, ensuring clarity and professionalism using tools like PowerPoint.
  • Performs other duties as requested or as responsibilities dictate.
  • Contribute to various team projects, showcasing adaptability and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Skills and Qualifications may include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or related fields.
  • Experience in data analysis or performance reporting is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, including pivot tables and basic analytical tools.
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint to create polished and effective presentations.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and communication skills
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving, leveraging various resources to find effective solutions.
  • Promote and exhibit a positive, collaborative team-oriented attitude.
  • Highly motivated self-starter, adaptive to a fast-paced environment, and eager to learn new technologies and tools.
