Position Overview:

This Analyst – Enhancement Solutions & Optimization role within the Portfolio Management Department at StepStone’s La Jolla office supports the team’s efforts to design and refine technical solutions that enable scalable, reliable workflows across the firm. The position assists in developing and maintaining automated processes, optimizing existing systems for efficiency, and contributing to standardized coding practices and documentation. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and supports initiatives that maintain centralized scripts, shared data sources, and overall system consistency.

 

Essential Job Functions:
  • Develop, test, and maintain clean, efficient code – primarily using Python and SQL – and implement enhancements to improve scalability, performance, and resource efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into well-structured technical solutions.
  • Support standardized coding practices, centralized scripts, shared data sources, and documentation for version control and quality assurance.
  • Leverage modern data management and cloud tools to support scalable system architecture.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills throughout the code and process development lifecycle to ensure accuracy and maintainability.

 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Information Systems, or a related field
  • 1 year of relevant work experience in a related field

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL; familiarity with additional programming languages or tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and interest in learning about data management and cloud technologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality and reliability.
  • Ability to tend to multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing needs.
  • Knowledge of financial and/or private markets is a plus.

 

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000

The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position.  Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience.  The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees.
