- The Performance and Insight team exists to provide greater understanding of our operational performance, improve the accuracy and accessibility of data, and adapt quickly to our changing operational and technical environment. We handle complex and challenging issues and projects, embed a culture of continuous improvement, and enable the business’ strategic transformation.
- Through great Data Governance -we make it easier to find and understand our performance data by implementing great data governance ensuring that data is managed systematically so it can be used efficiently, securely, and is accessible to those who need it.
- Easier to understand performance data - we create simple to understand MI against a set of visual standards, we work with each part of our business to educate our teams on how to spend the least amount of time finding the data vs investing their time in making the right decisions based on what the data tell us
- Understanding the work - we have a complex business and we architect MI to bring to light how we perform end-to-end showing what are the key drivers of work and where bottlenecks exist in the system.
- Innovation and collaboration - as well as making sure we create the best MI today we are looking forward to tomorrow to look at new ways to automate our reporting and embed AI as a way to help our stakeholders identify where their focus should be

This role in a nutshell:
An exciting opportunity in this new role you’ll be leading a team of experienced analysts to create engaging MI that tells the story of our business. You will work closely with the other Analytics Managers to partner with each of the functions to shape their domains and bring thought leadership on how to design MI for their function with an eye on reducing the time it takes for teams to find the right information and maximise their decision-making capability.
This role is for a natural born motivator who can lead a team of analysts to have high impact on the OVO Operation both in terms of the reduction in time spent understanding performance and being able to quantify the impact. With an eye to the future you will be influencing the leadership team and future direction of MI and with their input be able to articulate a clear vision for each function and Operations overall.
Your key outputs will be:
- Consume the performance data on a daily, weekly, monthly basis to create narratives of performance with your nominated partner functions to aid stakeholders in building the current picture of performance
- Connect the here and now to longer term trending, Identify where data does not make sense and go back to the source to resolve
- Has a genuine understanding of customer expectations and proactively and consistently keeps this understanding up-to-date through call listening, research and feedback.
- Uses complex customer metrics to inform and influence priorities. Balances customer value with customer experience.
- Partner with your nominated functions to Create “playbooks” for the levels in the area to understand what are the most important KPIs, how we display, where to access and how to interpret
- Educate on extracting the best out of existing MI
- Listen for opportunities to reduce the cost of consumption of data
- Maintain current state of system of MI and how it connects to Enterprise level
- Collaborates with top leadership (Directors and C-suite) in shaping their domains, particularly from a data perspective. Brings thought leadership on collaboration to Ovo.
- Contributes to and challenges business priorities at the top level, using data to support any opinions on objectives.
- Create and share roadmaps of planned design and delivery work of new MI reporting and dashboards
- Connect your partner function MI within the end-to-end to show cause and effect for regular data Measures the impact of their work and others
- Won't stand for anything less than flawless quality for anything customer-facing.
- Actively supports the development of a team through dedicated frameworks such as development plans and career guidance.
- Encourages and values teams' input. Develops talent within individuals in the team. Able to lead and motivate team.

You’ll be a successful Analytics Manager at OVO if you…
- Are comfortable leading a team of senior analysts to drive change through MI - helping them to understand the impact of their work and it is connected to the wider business strategy, create clear development plans with an investment in your team’s technical skills
Passionate about partnering with senior leaders to drive better decisions - driving an improvement strategy to reduce the effort taken to understand performance and bring consistency to how we look at performance. Building a narrative of performance weekly to tell the story of performance with our operational leaders and tying this to longer term performance trends.Values and promotes the benefit of best in practice data quality - improving our data quality using the data maturity framework set by our Data governance team to make it easier for us to look at performance data end-to-end.Are able to lead prioritisation calls with senior operations leaders - creating business cases for large MI projects and able to lead conversations to effectively prioritise whilst trading off against capacity for functional priorities
- Have mastery of the key technical skills - Understands and addresses the factors for optimising SQL query performance and is competent in tuning them. Sets best practice and supports with troubleshooting and coaching for other members of the Analytics community. Knows different error handling techniques, including dealing with complexity issues. Produces best in class visualisations that are varied and tell a story clearly. Sets best practice for data visualisation in OVO.

- Not previously worked in a analytics leadership role able to coach other in ways of working
- Not comfortable with ambiguity and fast pace change
- Are not open to new ways of working, adapting and merging of multiple methodologies
- Are not constantly thinking about ways to improve or challenge the status quo

- Are not able to work in a cross-functional team to understand a problem and get consensus on what needs to be done
