Role Overview

Purpose Brazil is seeking an Associate Campaign Director, Climate to play a pivotal role in executing our climate strategy. This position involves working closely with the team to ensure strong campaign development and implementation.

The person in this role will  support Purpose’s Brazil focussed Climate portfolio and other local initiatives by designing, planning, and executing robust strategies for social impact campaigns across various complex climate-related issues. This role requires close collaboration with the global Purpose Climate Lab and the local Head of Office, focusing on training, upskilling, proactive problem-solving, and expanding our vision of impact.

The ideal candidate will blend climate expertise with campaigning skills, effectively managing teams in designing projects, engaging stakeholders, and inspiring systemic change through an evidence-based approach. They should be adept at identifying opportunities, developing intervention strategies, supporting creative teams, launching campaigns, mobilizing audiences, and telling compelling stories to inspire collective action. A strong commitment to developing new business opportunities by analyzing the global climate context is essential.

This role is offered as a full time position on a Fixed Term contract for 1 year and comes with meal vouchers, health insurance, and other benefits. The role reports to the Head of Office in Brazil, with a dotted line to the Global Head of Campaigns. Familiarity with Climate Action is a requirement for this role. 

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead the Implementation of Climate Strategy in Brazil: Monitor and enhance the execution of the Purpose Climate Lab strategy in Brazil, ensuring adherence to the Lab's logic model and maximizing climate action impact.
  • Forge Connections with Key Climate Stakeholders: Establish and maintain relationships with government entities, corporations, media representatives, philanthropic organizations, and NGOs. Identify impactful opportunities for climate intervention by assessing various climate landscapes.
  • Showcase Purpose's Climate Projects: Present ongoing climate initiatives to key stakeholders and explore new funding opportunities to support Purpose's climate projects. Participate in client conversations to present Purpose’s perspective and strategy as needed.
  • Produce Thought Leadership Content: Create at least four pieces of thought leadership content annually, contributing to the global discourse on climate issues and positioning Purpose as a leader in the field.
  • Lead the Development of Concept Notes for Climate Initiatives: Assist in building comprehensive concept notes for large-scale climate initiatives. Recommend effective strategies and potential partners to ensure the success of these initiatives. Oversee the financial sustainability and growth of the Purpose Climate Lab in Brazil, identifying opportunities and ensuring impactful climate work.
  • Manage and Oversee Team Work: Supervise and support a team of 5 people, ensuring efficient workflow and project completion
  • Public Engagement: Lead the development of new ways to engage audiences through a thorough understanding of key entry points and work with the team to surface opportunities presented by research
  • Campaign lead: Lead on the development and execution of multi-channel, multi-region campaigns that demonstrate best in class use of platforms to achieve high-level goals. Work with team members to build, test and launch digital products, content and messaging

 

Requirements

  • At least 10+ years of strong campaigning experience (across agency, civil society and/or advocacy)
  • Understanding of the Brazil policy and advocacy landscape combined with experience of influencing decision makers within government, ideally through public campaigning
  • Demonstrated track record of leading complex projects with multidisciplinary teams in a deadline-driven environment
  • Experience managing large-scale campaigns from concept through execution, including developing and executing campaigns that mobilize people on and offline
  • English Fluency is required
  • A background in fundraising or business development
  • Experience running campaigns that emphasize experimentation
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • High bar for quality, rigor, and integrity in your own work, as well as your colleagues’
