The Difference You Will Make:

As an Associate Counsel, Marketing & IP reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Marketing & IP, you will help our dynamic teams plan and execute exciting and impactful marketing and communications campaigns. We are seeking someone with excellent judgment and a proven track record of functioning independently, prioritizing effectively and thriving in a demanding, fast-paced environment, collaborating cross-functionally and managing a variety of different projects at the same time. A strong interest in Airbnb is also important for success in the role.

A Typical Day: 

  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts to execute marketing campaigns and engage talent partners. Advise and educate client teams on contractual terms.
  • Provide practical day-to-day advice to marketing, communications, creative production and other cross-functional teams that balances business objectives and legal risk, considering companies policies and positions.
  • Conduct thorough and efficient legal review of content including: social media posts, in-product content, and press materials.
  • Proactively engage with business teams and other legal team members to maintain up to date knowledge of business priorities, the Airbnb platform, including product changes, and the competitive landscape.
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate within the legal team to align on consistent legal advice.
  • Help design, implement and iterate legal team processes to keep up a high level of efficiency.
  • Active championship of Airbnb’s mission, ethics and integrity
  • Support for Airbnb’s commitment to building and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace, free of discrimination and harassment

Your Expertise:

  • JD and 3-5 years of relevant experience at a company, governmental agency or law firm, with prior experience working at or closely with in-house marketing, PR or creative production focused teams
  • Prior experience in an in-house legal department preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with drafting and negotiating talent, influencer, creative production and music licensing agreements
  • Subject matter expert level knowledge of applicable FTC regulations
  • Working knowledge and understanding of SAG/AFTRA
  • Familiarity with CDA 230, DMCA, E-Commerce Directive and other regulations related to internet platforms preferred
  • A strong working knowledge of the Airbnb platform and competitive landscape
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver timely, effective and strategic legal advice that is current with the evolving legal and regulatory expectations and tailored to the communication style of the teams you support
  • Track record of thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, efficiently prioritizing and managing numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure, while maintaining attention to detail
  • Proactive, resourceful, self-starter who can work independently while exercising good judgment on when to seek outside guidance or escalate issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to write clearly and concisely, providing guidance to both legal and non-legal audiences
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, curiosity and desire to grow
  • Highly developed sense of humor and willingness to Embrace the Adventure!
  • Genuine excitement about the Airbnb mission and work
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Slack, Airtable and Microsoft Word, and/or ability to quickly learn and use new software tools
  • Barred in a US state, preferably CA

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.  

Pay Range$157,000—$185,000 USD
