ABOUT PURPOSE

We’re Purpose, the global social impact agency.

We use creative storytelling and campaigns to shift narratives, spark movements and drive change. Partnering with philanthropies, brands and NGOs to inspire people to reimagine the world, and to harness their power to make it happen.

Creative storytelling breaks down barriers to change. People are more likely to get on board with ideas if they can understand, remember and enjoy them. And when people are on board, change begins to happen.

Our movement-building, culture-changing, participatory projects have delivered real impact with our world leading partners, since Jeremy Heimans founded the agency in 2009.

And as we’ve grown, our connections around the world have grown too. Yet we’ve never lost sight of what matters, collaborating with underrepresented audiences, impacted communities and unexpected allies, to tackle tomorrow’s biggest problems today. With Purpose.

Purpose specializes in; strategy, creative, campaigns, and impact measurement and learning - across the social impact space.

We focus on six issue areas we believe are key to our collective future: environment and climate, equity, childhood and youth, democracy and human rights, mis and disinformation, public health.

Our work is recognised widely both in creative industry awards like Cannes Lions and in social impact awards like Anthem. Join the team that made all this work.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Purpose is seeking an ambitious and multi-faceted Associate Creative Director who can balance creative know-how with solid project leadership abilities. You'll have a great network and experience of working with freelance creatives, managing clients and impeccable creative execution.

The ideal candidate for the role is a conceptual and strategic thinker whose leadership makes an impact on the work and on everyone around them. You create with passion, innovate with every project that comes your way, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Your work demonstrates a strong point of view, conceptual excellence and a nuanced understanding of copy and art direction. You’re as comfortable leading a team though a pitch as you are getting your hands dirty delivering a campaign.

You’ll oversee an international team of creatives on projects working for positive, lasting social and environmental change. Maybe you’ve been working in advertising thinking, “could I find a place where I could use my skills to address climate change instead of … toothpaste?” Purpose is that place. Your work could change history, influence the news, and shift the way people think about some of the most pressing issues facing our world today. We pride ourselves in being a place that people come to do the most important work of their lives.

You’ll be fundamentally involved in making all kinds of stuff for causes that matter - not just print, digital, video, but a whole range of projects, from games, events, stunts, installations and workshops. You’ll be working across both agency projects and our labs, which means one day you might be working on brand guidelines for a nonprofit, and another you might be creating a year long activation to shift the narrative on children’s rights. We’re a global team, and our projects often cross borders - you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with a broad community - both internally and externally.

This is a Full-time Freelance/Contract position, for a duration of 3 months with high possibility of extension or conversion. This is a remote position, with a preference for candidates based in and around New York. The role reports to the Global Head of Creative.
