Associate Designer
Who We Are.The Wayfair Experiential Creative team is a dynamic group of innovative thinkers across many disciplines, partnering closely with strategic leaders to catapult Wayfair into the leading destination for all things home. As a collaborative, hands-on group, we are focused on producing high-quality, branded assets to be used in retail signage, collateral, packaging, marketing, corporate communications, and internal materials of all kinds, including digital, print, and video channels.
The Role.Wayfair is seeking a Designer to help us expand our brands - Wayfair, All Modern, Joss & Main, Birch Lane and Perigold - in the physical retail space. On day one, you’ll dive into our collaborative work environment, helping to build and scale our signage and retail assets in close partnership with creative directors, visual communications partners, and our copy and marketing leaders. In addition to signage, you’ll also partner with other creatives of various backgrounds, including visual merchandising, store design and marketing, to concept and execute on a range of experiential creative projects. You will help bring a consistent creative vision to our consumer facing channels, bringing our brands to life.
This role reports to our Head of Signage within Experiential Creative, which is part of our diverse creative department. Candidates must submit a portfolio of work in order to be considered.
What You’ll Do:
- Bring an impeccable design eye, high taste level, strategic thinking, and ability to capture our brand voices to reach new and existing audiences.
- Combine a design background with an affinity for home design. • Package original design ideas and solutions that result in the creation of compelling design assets.
- Values style as well as substance.
- Uphold the integrity of our brands visual voices through high output branded asset creation.
- Partner with art directors and copy to create assets across a range of projects, including retail/environmental signage, seasonal campaigns, new store activations, consumer education programs, event design, etc.
- Manage multiple projects requiring cross-functional collaboration.
- Work cross-functionally and partner with other business groups at Wayfair as needed.
- Seek and develop ways of helping the team work smarter, faster, and easier. Develop, align on and implement processes when and where necessary.
Who You Are:
- BFA in Graphic Design, or related creative field, or equivalent training.
- 2 + years of experience designing in a creative environment. In-house, publisher, or agency.
- Demonstrated design experience in retail, interior design and/or lifestyle categories.
- Highly organized, proactive, and collaborative, capable of juggling multiple project types, topics, and deadlines with ease.
- Excellent at brainstorming and generating creative ideas.
- Ability to see things from both a creative and business point of view.
- Experience designing for a variety of mediums, including print and digital.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with all levels of the organization. Embodies and promotes a successful attitude, a positive work environment, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
