The Business Development team develops strategic and high-profile relationships with B2C and B2B industry leading brands.  We leverage these relationships to attract new audiences for our consumer products and provide superior travel experiences to our end consumer. As part of the Commercial organization, the Business Development team works cross-functionally across the Tripadvisor Portfolio [i.e. Tripadvisor Core, Viator and TheFork], collaborating with Product, Marketing, Brand, Creative, Analytics & Legal to launch strategic partnerships that will help to propel our brand and business into the future. We do it all while putting customers and partners first, delivering connected travel solutions that enable consumers to plan the best trips through Tripadvisor. 

Tripadvisor Group is seeking extraordinary talent to join the Business Development team to drive the future of our Experiences product. We are looking for an experienced, highly skilled, and dynamic Associate Director of Business Development who can serve as our center of excellence for Experiences partnerships. You will be responsible for the entire deal cycle including prospecting, negotiating, implementing, and maintaining strategic partnerships. To do these things effectively, the ideal candidate will be required to develop a deep understanding of key products in order to formulate deal strategies as well as foster internal and client partnerships designed to accelerate growth. In this role, you will serve as the lead point of contact for Experiences partnerships, ensuring a clear strategic roadmap for strategic growth opportunities. We are looking for someone who is exceptionally skilled at building and maintaining both internal and external relationships and navigating complex organizations. The ideal candidate for this role should be well-versed in negotiating scalable partnerships, particularly within a tech environment. What You’ll Do

  • Identify emerging markets and business opportunities aligned with the company’s objectives. 
  • Quickly identify and develop top strategic partner prospects. 
  • Develop comprehensive business cases for potential partnerships, partnering with FP&A to build financial models and deal projections based off internal Tripadvisor data and external partner data, outline value to the business and ultimately, to the traveler. 
  • Conduct negotiations at a senior level, overseeing the development and execution of comprehensive partnership agreements with key stakeholders 
  • Develop business cases to secure buy-in from internal stakeholders [i.e. GM of Experiences, senior leadership, legal & finance] for partnerships effectively advocating for partner alignment with organizational objectives 
  • Provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless execution of programs and roadmaps contributing to the Experiences’ growth.
  • Lead strategic projects as it relates to all new business opportunities in the Experiences category 
  • Take full ownership of end-to-end partnership management, from lead generation to implementation, focusing on delivering a great partner and traveler experience and ensuring the achievement of or surpassing performance targets. 
  • Collaborates within Experiences team and with cross-functional teams to evolve existing key performance indicators and metrics to optimize partnership and uses dashboards to monitor and assess business performance (e.g., efficiency and effectiveness)
  • Partner closely with the GM of Experiences and Head of Business Development on a regular basis to flag potential escalations and ensure partner roadmap remains aligned to overall Tripadvisor Core strategy. 

 

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in business development, with a proven track record in negotiating and closing high-profile partnerships. 

  • Extensive experience in the Travel or Technology industry, preferably within an ecommerce based business. 

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.

  • Demonstrated success in deal-making and negotiating partnerships with a broad spectrum of stakeholders.

  • Ability to strategically prioritize partnership opportunities in alignment with overarching business objectives.

  • Have strong experience establishing, developing and optimizing partner relationships, ideally in the travel industry within the bookable activities and/or event ticketing category. 

  • Ability to strategically prioritize partnership opportunities in alignment with overarching business objectives.

  • Highly analytical mindset, leveraging data and research to lead and persuade effectively.

  • Confident with technical interaction. 

  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently, and driven to achieve objectives.

  • Passion for innovation, creative problem-solving, and cultivating strong relationships.

  • Have proven results working cross functionally within highly matrixed organizations with functions including Marketing, Product and Engineering teams to drive implementation of strategic & contractual partnership agreements from contract execution to partnership launch and ongoing successful results.

  • Comfortable working EU and APAC hours as needed.

 

The salary range for this role is $170,000 to $200,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. An employee’s pay position within the wage range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. This compensation range may also be modified in the future.
