Associate Director, Category Management
Our Opportunity:
Chewy is hiring an Associate Director of Category Management of Emerging Food Forms. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and focus on building a new business from the ground up through developing new business relationship, expanding selection and managing multiple new product launches on Chewy. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication, strong negotiations and vendor manager experience, the ability to analyze and communicate complex terms, margin structure and work well across other teams including Finance, Inventory Management, and Site Experience. In addition, The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to lead small teams, as this will be a manager role over a team of 2-3.. Keys to success also include strong ownership values, a passion for innovation, and hustle. The location can be based out of Seattle or Florida or Boston.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage a high growth business across a diverse group of brands
- Help launch new
- Prepare the Merchandising department build a new business and scale 4x current volume
- Work in conjunction with the Business Vertical VPs to develop goals for the Category Management team
- Ensure Merchandising is planning and delivering on all key P/L Metrics
- Negotiate highly complex deal structures across vendor partners with a focus on long term growth and scale
- Develop strategies across marketing, product and supply chain to lead the growth for a new, complex business format on Chewy
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners across businesses to execute the strategy effectively, both Delivery Experience, Marketing, Supply chain and Finance
- Interject new insights and ideas for improving customer experience and improving financials while holding true to Chewy fundamentals
- Position may require travel
What You'll Need:
- Minimum of 8+ years in buying, account management, product management, project management, financial analysis and/or marketing.
- Alternate profile- Willing to consider candidates with less experience who have advanced degrees and are working for top consulting firms.
- Minimum of 8+ years negotiation experience
- Manager experience of a small team
- Ecommerce experience preferred
- Strong in Excel; SQL a bonus.
- BA/BS (MBA preferred)
- Position may require travel

Compensation & Benefits:
Our salary range for a Associate Director of Category Management position is $149,000 - $245,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
