Job Description:

You will ..
  • Counsel our field/distribution center management and People team on a variety of employment issues, including hiring, workplace conduct, attendance, wage and hour, benefits, employment policies, and separations,
  • Ensure federal, state and local compliance with all relevant employment laws for a large contingent and direct workforce, the majority of whom are non-exempt, spread across numerous states
  • Help to create and manage HR-related training and education across the organization
  • Draft and negotiate various employment and related agreements, with emphasis on staffing agreements
  • Manage litigation and defense strategy, arbitrations, internal investigations, communications with federal and state agencies, and responses to correspondence from attorneys and other claimants for various labor/employment matters
  • Maintain relationships with and ensure cost-effective use of external counsel
  • Assist with various other non-employment litigation and other legal matters

  • A quick learner, able to acquire working knowledge on entirely new subjects within a short timeframe, with sound judgment regarding when to request external support
At a minimum, you have...
  • A J.D. with outstanding academic credentials. Overall at least 5 years of labor/employment law experience, including at least 2 years of relevant litigation experience at a leading law firm. Experience in-house at a high-growth (ideally consumer-facing retail/wholesale or e-commerce) company not required but a strong plus. 
  • Must be admitted, active and in good standing with at least one of the following state bars: Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, and/or Texas.
  • Must be able to work from one of the following HelloFresh locations: New York, NY
  • Ability to be in the office on a hybrid schedule (2 days per week). 
  • Ability to independently research and propose creative solutions that will allow HelloFresh to efficiently scale our legal & compliance framework during a time of rapid expansion.

New York Pay Range$140,500—$190,000 USD
