Associate Social Platform Manager | CNET
This role is not open to visa sponsorship or transfer of visa sponsorship including those on OPT and STEM-EXT OPT, nor is it available to work corp-to-corp.We’re looking for a creative, social-savvy, and data-driven Social Platform Manager with demonstrated experience in social media and/or content distribution to join CNET.
As an Assistant Social Platform Manager for CNET, you’ll post content, especially short-form video and articles, on social platforms. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply familiar with social platforms and can create and execute on strategies that engage current audiences and attract new ones. You will also be collaborating closely with the Editorial team to identify upcoming stories for distribution on social platforms, as well as our content syndication partners, like Flipboard. Knowing what content clicks with audiences – and how to position it – is an essential part of this role.
The ideal candidate has experience managing brand social media accounts, is a creative content creator, isn’t fazed by the never-ending cycle of social media trends, and can make content shine on a variety of platforms, through a variety of formats. You get short-form video, the ever-changing nature of platforms, and you’re excited to keep up.
This is a hybrid role based out of our San Francisco, CA or New York, NY office.
What You’ll Do:
- Work with the social and video teams to post, create and grow CNET’s presence on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook and platforms we haven’t explored yet.
- Help manage the day-to-day activity on platforms, like queuing up posts to keep a feed active through an afternoon, optimizing video posts and gauging the efficacy of titles.
- Work directly with the editorial team to identify upcoming stories for distribution on social and syndication channels.
- Coordinate with CNET’s social, editorial and video teams to develop and execute best practices on the platforms you manage. Combining judgment with signals from social platforms and internal tools, you’ll make recommendations for key teams to act upon.
- Support and identify new growth areas on social platforms that engage audiences and grow the CNET brand through the use of analytics and growth-hacking.
- Engage directly with audiences across channels to further CNET’s mission to empower audiences and provide expert advice.
What We’re Looking For:
- 1-3 years of experience in social media and marketing or media-related fields like journalism.
- Someone who can be independent, flexible and change course quickly depending on what comes out of the tech, and social media, world.
- Someone who’s deeply interested in the present and future of social media. You’re interested in learning more about social strategy and development through collaboration, analytics and general interest.
- A hunger for understanding of the Social Media internal analytics landscape and tools like Sprout Social, Social Flow, Meta Business Suite, Looker and Google Trends.
- Analytical thinking, but with an openness to listen to audience responses and keep CNET’s mission top of mind when making decisions.
- Creativity, from writing copy to designing graphics to strategies on platforms, but also when approaching more open-ended challenges.
- A team player who is comfortable providing and receiving actionable feedback from stakeholders within and beyond their immediate team.
- CNET is known for tech, but we cover topics such as personal finance, health & wellness and energy. We’re looking for someone who has a familiarity in these topics but more importantly, a willingness to learn about topics within CNET’s domain.
Compensation:
- San Francisco Compensation Range: $62,500 - 90,000*
- NYC Compensation Range: $62,500 - 82,000**Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
