Associate Software Engineer | CNET
As an Associate Software Engineer at CNET.com, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining sophisticated web applications. Collaborating closely with other software engineers, data team members, and stakeholders will enhance user experience and functionality. Your expertise in software engineering and problem-solving abilities will be crucial in identifying and resolving issues. You’ll help to drive the end-to-end experience, from the front-end to the backend systems running in the cloud, powering multiple highly trafficked sites and internal services. Strong candidates will have robust technical training and experience. You will be part of a team that works together to explore new boundaries and test new technologies.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and maintain backend applications with sophisticated tooling UI, ensuring the technical feasibility and implementation of potentially new architectures.
- Collaborate with other engineers, architecting software principles and stakeholders to enhance user and service experience and functionality.
- Write clean, efficient, testable, and reusable code, following best practices for software engineering.
- Develop and maintain testing frameworks for backend test unit code, performing thorough functionality and performance tests.
- Efficiently identify and resolve UI, services, and API-related issues, analyzing technical requirements and proposing effective solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in software engineering.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in software engineering or internship experience.
- Experience with AWS/Azure/Google cloud providers.
- Proficiency in server-side technologies such as Java, C# or PHP deployed with continuous integration and continuous deployment CI/CD systems.
- Demonstrated experience with Node.js and modern frameworks such as Vue.js or React.
- Experience with OOP and software design skills.
- Solid experience with databases such as MySQL,and MongoDB.
- Proficiency in version control tools like Git.
- Understanding of how to build and consume REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Excellent communication skills for effective team collaboration, including communicating technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Bonus experiences:
- Certifications and/or other strong demonstrations of competencies with cloud providers Google (GCP) and Amazon (AWS).
Compensation
- Cash Compensation Range: $60,000-$95,000*Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
