About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic Customer Identity Presales Architect to join our team of identity and developer experience experts. This role blends deep technical skill with customer journey design and a passion for helping organizations deliver seamless, secure, and scalable digital experiences. As a trusted advisor, you will engage directly with enterprise customers, partners, and internal teams to design and deliver innovative Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM) solutions that accelerate business growth.
You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping customer engagement strategies, from developer onboarding to user authentication flows, and help define the future of digital identity experiences in your region.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the APJ Office of the Field CTO, you will showcase how Okta’s Customer Identity Cloud (Auth0) can solve complex challenges across identity, security, and experience. We're looking for someone who understands the nuances of developer tooling, application architecture, and user-centric identity design. Your developer empathy and hands-on implementation experience will allow you to speak credibly to product teams and builders, while your architectural depth ensures customers receive scalable, best-practice CIAM designs.
You’ll collaborate with product, presales, and sales teams to provide thought leadership, shape identity roadmaps, and help customers unlock value across every step of the customer journey.
What you’ll be doing
Customer Engagement & Journey Consulting
- Work with digital, security, and product teams to understand their application landscape, user flows, and identity challenges.
- Guide customers on designing secure and delightful customer journeys, balancing frictionless UX with strong identity controls.
- Lead discovery workshops and whiteboard sessions to align CIAM strategies with business goals.
- Translate business use cases into solution architecture using Okta’s Customer Identity products (Auth0 platform, Actions, MFA, Organizations, Embedded Login, Branding, Progressive Profiling, etc.).
Developer-Centric Enablement & Technical Leadership
- Support developer teams with architectural guidance, code-level integration support, and best practices for identity implementation.
- Deliver technical sessions, workshops, and proof of concepts (POCs) tailored to web, mobile, and API-first use cases.
- Advocate for standards-based identity (OIDC, OAuth 2.0, SAML, JWT) and educate teams on secure-by-default design.
Thought Leadership & Regional Strategy
- Represent Okta as a technical expert at customer meetings, developer conferences, and regional events.
- Craft and deliver regional identity narratives that reflect local industry trends, regulatory needs, and evolving digital experience expectations.
- Collaborate with product management and engineering by providing real-world feedback to influence roadmap direction.
Sales, Partner & Stakeholder Alignment
- Collaborate with AEs and SEs to define account strategy and shape technical direction in high-priority CIAM opportunities.
- Partner with SI and ISV partners to deliver aligned CIAM architectures and support GTM motions.
- Support early sales stages with strong architectural guidance to de-risk complex implementations and accelerate deal velocity.
- Act as a field escalation point for CIAM-related challenges across identity lifecycle, branding, and developer adoption.
What you’ll bring to the role
Technical Skills
- Deep hands-on experience with customer-facing identity solutions, including Auth0, Okta, or equivalent CIAM platforms.
- Background in software development or web/mobile engineering, including mobile SDKs, JavaScript, Node.js, React, Java or Python..
- Strong grasp of secure development practices, including token security, session handling, encryption, and API authorization.
- Proficiency in identity standards: OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, SAML, SCIM, and WebAuthn.
Strategic & Consultative Skills
- Ability to analyze customer journey maps and identity workflows, and make impactful UX/security trade-offs.
- Understanding of business value drivers across sign-up conversion, retention, fraud prevention, and scalability.
- Experience working with product, marketing, and engineering teams on customer-facing technology strategies.
Soft Skills
- Confident communicator who can whiteboard, live demo, and engage audiences across executive and technical levels.
- Customer-first mindset with the ability to simplify complex topics and influence decision-makers.
- Self-driven with a collaborative approach to team success, open feedback, and shared learning.
Preferred Experience
- 10+ years designing or implementing CIAM solutions or customer-facing digital platforms, or solution architecture roles.
- 4+ years in presales or developer advocacy.
- Experience with API-based application architectures, SPA and mobile app auth patterns, or cloud-native CI/CD integration.
- Familiarity with developer tooling, SDKs, Git workflows, Vibe Coding, or Postman.
- Background in verticals like Fintech, eCommerce, or Media is a plus.
- Proficiency in a regional language relevant to ASEAN (e.g., Bahasa Indonesia, Thai, Vietnamese, Hindi) is highly desirable.
