Location: Tomken Rd & Matheson Blvd East, MississaugaShift: This position will provide a consistent full time schedule - availability to work evenings and weekends will be required. 

About the Role

In this role you will work with our Production and Maintenance Team to perform the automation and preventative maintenance programs at our facilities, and work to ensure operation downtime is kept to a minimum along with routine production activities.

What you will be doing:

  • Work with our Food Safety and Sanitation teams to ensure all automated equipment is meeting regulatory standards.
  • Perform preventive/predictive maintenance of Packaging equipment using the appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals. Conduct machine calibration and centerlining.
  • Operate lifting devices like  jacks, and walkies for moving film rolls, position machinery and parts (forming and sealing stations) during maintenance, installation, setup, and repair.
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to identify and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Adjust machinery and replace faulty parts as needed. Set up equipment to ensure proper and safe operation
  • Assemble machinery and equipment using hand and power tools prior to installation.
  • Complete required documentation and complete administration reports. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Continuously monitor & adjust the process based on upstream & downstream production needs.
  • Maintain & store department inventory, including consumables & keep records documented.
  • Responsible for Mixer responsibilities & following the Mixer processes when providing coverage.
  • Responsible for practicing and adhering to Food Safety, GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Health and Safety.
  • Responsible for practicing and adhering to Hello Fresh policies and best practices.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S acts and regulations.
  • Use personal protective and safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer and report workplace hazards and dangers to the supervisor or employer.
  • Other duties as assigned

At a minimum, you have: 

  • Post-secondary Education in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering Diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of  1 year experience operating machinery in a food processing, manufacturing or service industry
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written.
  • Familiar with MS Office and/or Google Apps and comfortable learning new technologies.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and accuracy looking consistently for potential food safety or quality deviations.
  • Has experience  standing for prolonged periods of time including regular squatting, bending, twisting and walking 
  • Willing and able to work in a refrigerated environment (0°C to 4°C)
  • Willing and able to push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs
  • Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Certification is considered an asset.
