What you'll do

 

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Doctolib Siilo team in Amsterdam, Netherlands.   As a Backend Engineer, your mission will be to work on secure medical communication solutions that enable healthcare professionals to discuss and coordinate patient care with colleagues both within and beyond their organizational walls. You will be working in a feature team developing APIs and backend services that power Europe's largest medical network with over 1M healthcare professionals.   Working in the tech team at Doctolib involves building innovative products and features to improve the daily lives of care teams and patients. We work in feature teams in an agile environment, while collaborating with product, design, and business teams.   Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Building, owning and maintaining Doctolib Siilo's backend providing APIs for our mobile and web clients using Java 17, Spring Boot, Akka and more
  • Managing and monitoring our cloud infrastructure at AWS, implementing "infrastructure-as-code" (Terraform) solutions
  • Ensuring our users' data is safe and secure by keeping security and privacy front and center in everything you do
  • Collaborating with peers working on Android, iOS, web and Doctolib's Rails backend to build an exceptional experience for healthcare professionals
  • Managing the full development lifecycle, including stakeholder communication and production issue debugging

 

About our tech environment
  • Our solutions are built on a single fully cloud-native platform that supports web and mobile app interfaces, multiple languages, and is adapted to the country and healthcare specialty requirements. To address these challenges, we are modularizing our platform run in a distributed architecture through reusable components.
  • Our stack is composed of Rails, TypeScript, Java, Python, Kotlin, Swift, and React Native.

Who you are Before you read on — if you don't have the exact profile described below, but you feel this job description matches your skill set, we still encourage you to apply.
  • You have 3+ years experience with API design and development using Java 8+ (we're currently on Java 17)
  • You have experience running software on cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS
  • You have experience with frameworks and libraries like Spring Boot, Akka and Protobuf
  • You have experience working with database technologies, preferably JPA, MySQL, MongoDB and Elasticsearch/Opensearch
  • You enjoy figuring out why things work, not just that they work
  • You're fluent in English
