The Challenge

The North American Benefits Analyst is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, dynamic team at a highly successful, forward-thinking video game company. The North American Benefits Analyst is responsible for supporting the US Leave Manager and Canadian Benefits Manager on all aspects of the company’s time off and leave programs in the US and Canada. The secondary responsibility is to assist the North American Benefits team with day-to-day US and Canadian benefits plan operations. The role includes interaction with employees and HR Partners, so high-touch customer service is a critical success factor.

  What you'll take on
  • Manage the Leaves inbox - respond to all employee and HR Partner questions, and questions from disability vendor and leave administrator
  • Ensure leave requests and approvals are processed accurately and timely
  • Record and track each leave in Workday
  • Calculate the paid leave benefit for Payroll to process
  • Act as liaison between HR Partners and Payroll

Policies and Procedures:

  • Become subject matter expert of all applicable processes, procedures, and regulations related to North American time off and leaves
  • Work with Legal and other teams to create, interpret, and update policies and procedures

 

Centralized Processer:

  • Process all leave requests that come through Workday within two business days
  • Keep complete records of all leave requests and maintain accurate tracking in Workday
  • Complete STD, NY PFL, CA PFL, CA SDI, Workers’ Comp and all other leave-related forms
  • Coordinate return-to-work, and, in partnership with Legal, assist with accommodation requests per ADAAA
  • Ensure employees on Workers’ Compensation are appropriately included in the leave process
  • Follow up with all stakeholders throughout the life of the leave for each employee
  • Bill employees on unpaid leaves for cost of benefits
  • Assist with employees’ return-to-work needs

 

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Benefits operations - Support team with day-to-day administration and analysis of the Company's Canadian and US benefit plans and programs, including medical, dental, vision, EAP, HSA, FSA, commuter benefits, life/AD&D, disability, group legal, back-up childcare, fitness reimbursement, 401(k), RRSP and DPSP
  • Respond to inquiries in Benefits email inbox. Respond quickly, accurately, and thoroughly to employees’, HR Partners’, and vendors’ questions, correspondence, and complaints; resolve problems, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend process improvements
  • Process employee benefits events in HRIS and vendor systems and maintain benefits data in HRIS and vendor systems
  • Conduct new hire benefits orientation
  • Provide administrative support to Benefits team
  What you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 4 years of leave and benefits administration experience at mid-sized or large companies
  • Knowledge of US and Canadian federal, state and provincial regulations that govern employee leave and benefit plans, including FMLA, ADA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, Section 125, and DOL requirements
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with leaves and benefits administration systems and HRIS is required. Experience with Workday is a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally, with strong client focus
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
  • Self-starter
  • Proven ability to stay organized, set priorities, learn quickly, and inspire confidence
  • Ability to complete multiple projects within established deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Work well in a team environment.
