Our Opportunity:

Chewy’s Enterprise People Analytics (EPA) team supports Chewy Human Resources (HR) by providing solutions and services for people data, which enables our client groups to leverage insights for strategic decision making. We do this collaboratively across data science, machine learning, business intelligence, and insights. We are seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to join our team in Plantation, FL, Boston, MA, or Bellevue, WA. 

The EPA Business Intelligence team serves a wide and varied audience of data users. We’re looking for an engineer that has excellent technical skills and has a strong passion for data analysis. Most importantly, we’re looking for a candidate that is deeply passionate about data and looking to grow their career in a fast-paced dynamic environment. This role will have the opportunity to experience many facets of business intelligence including end-to-end project delivery, providing user support, platform administration, report development, data pipeline management and data analysis. 

The ideal candidate will showcase broad technical skills with excellent analytic abilities, and the ability to make data backed decisions. What You’ll Do:

  • Own the scoping, design, development, and maintenance of a variety of reporting content to support critical business decisions, primarily Tableau end products.
  • Support the maturity of the EPA team by delivering quality products to our clients. 
  • Serve as liaison between business and EPA or related IT partners to achieve solution goals to meet the needs of our users.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to business leaders on data visualization and best practices to tell their story through data interpretation.
  • Recognize, adopt, and evangelize the best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
  • Support leadership with timely recurring and ad-hoc analyses.
  • Continually improve ongoing platform, reporting, automating, or simplifying processes with the goal of improving the quality and value of data at Chewy.
  • Be engaged with inter and intra team cultures contributing to discussions with data supported ideas and a forward looking, scalable mentality.

What You’ll Need:

  • Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of BI data warehouse technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools.
  • Experience with workflow tools such as Alteryx or KNIME.
  • Strong skillset in BI visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Strong SQL skills with a working understanding of columnar databases. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable working in an environment that requires self-driven learning. 
  • Possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources and maintaining data structures necessary for analysis.
  • Comfortable presenting findings to SME’s from across the organization, including senior leadership.

Bonus:

  • Strong Tableau experience or certification.
  • Experience with AWS tech stack.
  • Experience with other scripting languages such as Python or R.
  • Experience with statistical and predictive models.
  • Experience with building NLP and sentiment analyses.

Compensation & Benefits: 

Our salary range for a BI Engineer I position is $91,000.00 - $135,500.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
