The Role

Everpure (formerly Pure Storage) is looking for a proactive Brand Protection Paralegal to take ownership of trademark portfolio management and act as a partner with our Marketing and Sales team across a range of brand protection efforts. You will play a critical role in expanding our legal team's daily presence with the company’s cross functional teams.

The Everpure Legal Department is a cooperative, high-functioning environment staffed by subject matter experts from a wide range of backgrounds. Successful candidates must have experience working within Legal Departments and cross functionally to achieve successful outcomes. Successful candidates will additionally have experience working directly with in-house Marketing and Sales teams, either through prior in-house experience or through unsupervised correspondence with clients in law firm roles.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Trademark Docket Management

  • Trademark prosecution support and maintain internal trademark docket: You will go beyond basic data entry and deadline tracking to create a system that records historic mark clearances, tracks prior company uses, and logs rich product information.
  • Collect use-based evidence: Track company activities to gather the legal specimens of use needed to support our upcoming trademark applications and renewals.
  • Manage outside counsel: Support the team in overseeing outside counsel spend and evaluating performance metrics.

Enforcement & Monitoring

  • Run weekly enforcement tasks: Review trademark watch notices and track our internal decisions pursuing actions like letters of protest, oppositions, or cancellations.
  • Monitor the market: Monitor marketplace activities to protect Everpure IP rights.
  • Track industry trends: Serve as an internal resource for knowledge on marketplace and industry shifts and trends.

Marketing & Sales Partnership

  • Review marketing collateral: Serve as a reliable first point of contact for brand protection queries and marketing collateral reviews.
  • Draft promotion rules: Provide legal support for routine company contests and promotional giveaways.
  • Build trust: Develop strong relationships with the Marketing and Sales teams to serve as a reliable touchpoint for matter escalation.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • 6 to 9 years of experience as a trademark and brand protection paralegal.
  • Experience preparing USPTO Trademark filings, including initial filings, responses to office actions, letters of protest, and oppositions at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) is required.
  • Experience with managing trademark docketing for large companies. Prior understanding the role of trademark and brand protection in the B2B / B2E and services marketplace is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Madrid Protocol and national trademark filing strategies
  • Familiarity with trademark search strategies and elementary risk assessments
  • Familiarity with marketing collateral review consistent with FTC Endorsement Guides and technology industry substantial standards
  • Experience working in Google Workspace, Slack, Compumark Watch, Saegis, IPFolio, Asana project management, and Figma are a plus.
  • Must be comfortable working in high-pace, high-ownership environments where legal guidance is limited.
  • Successful candidates must have an interest in developing a strong base of knowledge in Everpure products and services.

Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations. 

This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity. 

There is no application deadline and we accept applications on an ongoing basis until the job is filled.

The annual base salary range is: $176,000—$265,000 USD
