What You’ll Do
Our Business Intelligence Analysts play a pivotal role in analysing and presenting Modulr’s data to inform business decisions, support regulatory compliance, and ensure effective risk management. To do this, they actively engage with stakeholders to understand the business activities which generate our data, how they relate to historical business performance, and why they will drive our target operational and financial outcomes.
Specific duties include:
- Engaging with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to define clear data requirements, using your expertise to advise them on the best business solutions.
- Acting as a liaison between the business and Data Engineering team to communicate requirements, especially when new data sources or adjustments to existing ones are necessary.
- Creating and maintaining engaging, interactive visualisations that clearly communicate complex data, empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions.
- Working closely with functional subject matter experts to develop and standardise clear data definitions relevant to their business areas.
- Supporting digital transformation initiatives by supporting process automation wherever possible, and by driving adoption of our data platforms.
- Championing data quality by identifying inconsistencies/inaccuracies and working with the data owners to improve processes and prevent issues re-occurring.
- Conducting ad hoc analysis to support specific business projects and initiatives.
Who You Are
- You have a ‘can do’ attitude. We want you to focus on the outcomes you deliver to the customers of the FP&A product, i.e., the Modulr business owners, and want to collaborate with them to deliver the best result.
- You have excellent attention to detail and can leverage your business acumen to spot the obvious errors in your analysis.
- You’re comfortable with ambiguity and can present your work conscious of the things you don’t yet know.
- You build things properly. You prefer building a robust, automated process wherever possible. You don’t overengineer things, but you do things correctly, first time, rather than having to waste time later fixing poor data structures.
- You can think beyond the numbers; you’re curious about what drives financial performance and how data can shape future outcomes.
- You’re very strong technically. You have lots of SQL knowledge/experience. It’s a bonus if you have experience in Python, Snowflake, and Git too.
- You’re proficient in Power BI or other business intelligence/data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Mode, etc.).
- You have experience in dimensional data modelling, including gathering business requirements, designing/reviewing data models, and resolving related issues to create/maintain accurate and effective data structures.
- You have experience in (or are keen to learn) about predictive analytics, e.g., trend and correlation analysis, using machine learning to improve forecasting, outlier detection, and exception reporting.
- You have experience of working in any fast-paced environment, with exposure to financial services or technology industries being desirable.
