About Us

The Business Operations & Analytics team sits within our GenAI Strategy and Operations team and acts as the data-driven engine focused on the scaled planning, management, forecasting, and optimization of Headcount (HC), Budget (OpEx), Contracts, Facilities, and operational data.

The Role

As the Business Operations & Planning Lead, you will manage this team and work across GDM and Google to define and run the key strategic rhythms of the business. You will be responsible for distilling and disseminating critical priorities across GenAI, owning core day-to-day operations, and driving the Annual and 1H/2H planning processes. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires bridging high-level strategy with operational execution to ensure the organization runs efficiently and effectively.

Key responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning & Rhythms of Business:
    • Define and execute the strategic rhythms of the business, including the Annual and 1H/2H planning processes.

  • Resource management:
    • Develop and run headcount and budget planning, forecasting, and day-to-day operations
    • Monitor resource utilization and identify potential bottlenecks or conflicts.
    • Allocate resources to projects and programs, considering org strategies, project priorities, and timelines
    • Forecast trends, taking into account current data and organizational strategies and challenges

    • Analyze resource management data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Perform ad hoc data analysis as needed
  • Team Leadership & Operations Management:
    • Build, manage and develop the Business Operations & Analytics team, fostering a culture of flexible, tailored rhythms of the business.
    • Own the core day-to-day operations and business rhythms, including quarterly resource updates and forecasts.
    • Oversee the management of analytics, resource management, and facilities programs.
    • Manage a team of resource managers, program managers, data scientists / analysts
    Qualifications
    • Proven experience building R&D operations from zero to one, with a track record of leading annual/biannual planning cycles, day-to-day resource management operations, forecasting, and reporting embedded in a research and/or product team.
    • Process Excellence: Strong skills in process development with the ability to "see around corners" to design low-friction, user-centric operational rhythms. You tailor the process to the org, not to a playbook or to your past experiences.
    • Polished Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to distill complex priorities and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels across Google and GDM.
    • Hands-on Operational Leadership: You draft, you code, you test, you seek feedback. You are passionate about making things glide. And you are not above any task.
    • Technical Proficiency: Must be a strong user of AI, Google suite esp slides and spreadsheets, SQL, APIs, AppsScript, automation, forecasting, and data management. You know what an API is and how to use it, and you could teach a course on using AI for 10x productivity.
