About the role

We are looking for a Capture and Proposal Strategist to join our fast-growing Defense Team. As a Capture and Proposal Strategist, you will stand at the heart of Applied’s Defense capture and procurement process. You will have the unique opportunity to develop our capture and proposal approaches, and strategically shape the market strategy of a leading commercial technology company. You will also have the opportunity to develop internal proposal management processes, participate in capture strategy discussions, and help address some of the most “big picture” challenges the company is facing.     You will partner cross-functionally across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Operations. This is a strategic and operational role that will directly enable revenue growth.

At Applied, you will:

  • Monitor and identify Defense-related solicitations (e.g., RWP, RFI, RFQ) of interest to the Defense Business Development Team
  • Help design and implement capture strategy for new customer acquisition through market research, competitor analysis, collaboration with BD stakeholders, and external partnerships 
  • Lead or support the drafting of compelling and compliant responses to Government Requests for White Papers, Information, Quotes, and Proposals, as well as market research materials that shape and win contracts
  • Collaborate across the Defense Business Development team to build and improve capture and proposal processes 

We're looking for someone who has:

  • 5+ years of experience in end-to-end capture and proposal management spanning all aspects of the acquisition lifecycle (including RFIs, RFPs, RFQs) related to the Department of Defense
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DoD procurement and the DFAR
  • Ability to think outside the box and beyond traditional capture and proposal strategies to meet goals
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across an organization to execute complex capture strategies and proposal responses
  • A passion for building a deep understanding of autonomous systems applications for National Security and Defense

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Autonomy, Automation, or Artificial Intelligence technologies and their applications to National Security and Defense
  • Bachelors and/or Masters in a technical field
