MongoDB is looking for a Category Manager to support our growing company's needs. This role requires a strategic thinker, but also someone who is prepared to “roll up their sleeves.” It also requires interaction across the organization, globally. The right candidate will be a builder with strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills. This position will be responsible for implementing and driving technology/software procurement strategies. This role is to be based in our New York City or Austin office and will be reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager who is based in New York. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead strategic software negotiations with SaaS and On-prem suppliers globally
  • Strong understanding of software trends, commercial models, and industry specific terminology
  • Leverage internal and external data to enhance software benchmarking and negotiation efforts
  • Provide valuable consultative support across a variety of business functions
  • Advance MongoDBs operational excellence by uncovering efficiencies and leading strategic category initiatives
  • Assist in the identification and forecasting of cost reduction opportunities via proactive  stakeholder alignment
  • Ensure that all deals under your purview have been executed per the company purchasing policy and process
  • Design and execute a category roadmap to address our growing business needs 
  • Run quarterly business reviews to proactively assess upcoming business needs and or risks
  • Educate various teams on the procurement process, best practices and policies
What does success look like? 

The Category Manager - Technology/Software will be successful in this role when by executing the following strategic tasks/responsibilities:

  • Lead impactful negotiations delivering more commercial value, favorable terms and cost savings
  • Deliver superior and consistent project management skills for multi-country cross-functional team projects
  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts and internal stakeholders through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects
  • Work closely with Global Stakeholders on on pre-renewal strategy, RFP distribution and post renewal analysis 
  • Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches for global expansion
  • Develop an understanding of the legal framework for contract execution
  • Proactively address and plan project pipeline
  • Improve, maintain and organize category specific documentation
About you?
  • BA/BS; MBA/Masters is a plus
  • 6-10 years of experience within an indirect procurement team with experience managing technology and software agreements
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Legal contract experience
  • Familiarity with business systems: Coupa, Salesforce, Graphite Connect 
  • Highly articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Think creatively, are highly driven, and skilled at creating structure in situations that are uncertain or ambiguous within a rapidly growing business.
  • Demonstrated the ability to roll up your sleeves and work with team members, driving projects through to completion

Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:$63,000—$123,000 USD
