About the CEO Office

The CEO Office sits at the strategic heart of SumUp, driving high-impact initiatives that shape the company's future. We work directly with CEO Daniel Klein and the executive leadership team to tackle SumUp's most ambitious challenges—from M&A and strategic partnerships to new market opportunities and investor relations. Our team is small, fast-moving, and operates with exceptional autonomy. We thrive in ambiguity, move at pace, and deliver results that matter. This role offers unparalleled exposure to executive decision-making and the chance to accelerate your career trajectory by compressing years of learning into months.

We're looking for a CEO Associate to join our team and work directly with Daniel, taking ownership of strategic projects that would otherwise remain on the CEO's plate. If you're ready to trade slide decks for real impact and want to learn what it takes to scale a global fintech from the inside, this is your opportunity.

What you'll do
  • Drive strategic initiatives end-to-end – Own high-priority projects from scoping through execution, including M&A analysis, strategic partnerships, new business opportunities, and investor-related work
  • Conduct financial and strategic analysis – Build financial models, perform comparable company and precedent transaction analysis, and deliver executive-ready insights to support critical business decisions
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution – Work across Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and other teams to move initiatives forward, managing timelines, stakeholders, and dependencies
  • Anticipate needs and act proactively – Learn to think ahead of the CEO and leadership team, identifying opportunities and solving problems before being asked
  • Prepare executive communications – Create board materials, investor memos, and strategic presentations that distill complex information into clear, actionable narratives
  • Support investor relations and corporate development – Contribute to fundraising activities, investor updates, and M&A evaluation processes
You'll be great for this role if
  • You have early experience in top-tier consulting, investment banking, private equity, or a high-growth startup in strategy, operations, or business development roles
  • You're a quantitative problem-solver with advanced Excel skills and experience building financial models and conducting strategic analyses
  • You thrive in ambiguity and can make decisions with incomplete information, prioritizing speed and iteration over perfection
  • You have exceptional communication skills – you can craft compelling executive memos, presentations, and recommendations that drive decisions
  • You're proactive and self-starting – you identify problems, propose solutions, and ask "what's next?" without waiting for direction
  • You demonstrate intellectual curiosity and learning agility – you rapidly absorb new domains, ask insightful questions, and actively seek feedback
  • You bring grit and resilience – you maintain high performance under pressure and bounce back quickly from setbacks

Nice to have:

  • SQL, Python, or R experience
  • Exposure to M&A, corporate development, or venture capital
  • Previous startup or fintech experience
Why you should join SumUp
  • Unparalleled learning opportunity – Work directly with the CEO and executive team, gaining exposure to high-stakes strategic decisions and compressing 5-10 years of career development into 2-3 years
  • Real ownership from day one – This isn't a shadowing role. You'll own meaningful projects that directly impact SumUp's trajectory
  • Career acceleration – Build a foundation for founding your own company, becoming a future operator/GM, or ascending rapidly within a scaling organization
  • Mission-driven impact – Help empower over 4 million small businesses across 36 markets by building the financial tools they need to thrive
  • Collaborative, high-talent team – Join a small, exceptional team in the CEO Office and work alongside 3,000+ SumUppers from 90+ nationalities
