About the job
As Chief of Staff to the Segment President of Twilio Segment, you will be responsible for providing the Segment President the leverage needed to effectively partner and liaise with senior internal and external stakeholders. You will lead strategic projects, provide a concise understanding of the Segment President’s perspective, act as an extension of the Segment President in internal and external meetings and keep the Segment President regularly informed of key developments. You will execute in ways that demonstrate diplomacy, are sensitive to confidentiality and act with the best interest of Twilio, always.
The Twilio Segment Organization is in need of a motivated and adaptable leader to join the Segment Leadership team as the Chief of Staff (COS) to Segment’s President. This is an amazing opportunity to lead a wide range of critical activities including strategic planning, operational cadence, metrics, internal communications, and cross-functional projects. A successful candidate will be viewed by the entire team as a key person behind the scenes making sure everything in the Twilio Segment organization runs smoothly and efficiently. Because of you, Twilio is making better decisions and executing at a higher level than ever before, and the Segment President is more effective than ever.
The COS will report directly to the Segment President and will partner closely with the top line of Segment Leadership Staff (Segment Product & Engineering, GTM, People, and Finance Leader), to drive forward strategic priorities and goals while also influencing the culture of the organization. Additionally, this individual will directly engage with members of Twilio’s Executive Team (CEO, CFO, etc).
Who?
Segment is looking for someone who has a proven track record of organizing and directing multiple teams and departments. They need to have the smarts to figure out a new business or area very quickly, no matter how complex. They also should have:
- 5+ years in a business or executive management role. Looking for Director or Senior Director candidates (possibly an exceptional Senior Manager will be considered).
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives with a strong process orientation.
- Gravitas and credibility to represent Segment’s President with the most senior leaders internally and externally
- Excellent communicator in written and verbal form, with a focus on interdepartmental communication.
- Willing to take on almost any project and drive it to success, whether or not you’ve done it before.
- Approachable and a natural relationship-builder.
- Possess a detailed understanding of what’s going on in the front line of the business and how that translates to cross functional and global improvements.
- A metrics orientation and desire for operational excellence.
- The ability to be unafraid to disagree with their boss.
- Effective, versatile and action-oriented
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives with a strong process orientation.
- Takes an enterprise view of the business and understands some of the key dynamics of growth, challenges and culture.

- BE AN OWNER: Leverage internal partners both formally and informally to glean organizational insights, taking action where necessary to get ahead of issues before they rise to the Segment President’s attention. Work with the Segment President to establish strategic priorities.
- EMPOWER OTHERS: Be a central point of contact for the coordination of the Segment President activities and ensure preparation of relevant documents and briefing material. Coordinate and drive effective operating cadence in partnership with cross-functional organizations
- WRITE IT DOWN: Prepare written reports, communications, slide decks, and other materials required by the Segment President
- BE BOLD: Develop a good understanding of current business issues and be able to provide timely advice to the Segment President.
- NO SHENANIGANS: Advise key stakeholders on Segment strategy across our global teams as it pertains to company goals and plans

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in Colorado: $164,480 - $205,600.
- Based in New York, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $$174,000 - $217,000
- Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $193,520 - $241,900.
- This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
