The Chief of Staff ("CoS") role will report directly to the Chief People Officer (“CPO”) and will lead critical strategic cross-functional projects and play a key role in ensuring the CPO is prepared and focused on the highest impact initiatives for Lyft. The CoS will be expected to demonstrate problem solving skills, prevent challenges and save time for the executive leadership of the People function.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner within and outside the People org to lead complex People initiatives--operating at the strategic and tactical level to design optimal workflows, ensure appropriate resourcing and align internal processes
  • Own the change management of large scale initiatives and programs, ensuring the right audiences receive the right information at the right time
  • Communicate priorities, activities, and results to the People Leadership team and larger organization, while ensuring deliverables are met. Have a strong pulse and feedback loop on organizational needs.
  • Lead People Leadership team meetings, prepare agendas and follow-through on action items. Drive daily/weekly executive briefings.
  • Identify and take on ad hoc strategic projects 
  • Lead the annual and quarterly strategic planning process for the People function
  • Pull in the right stakeholders and lead timely retrospectives to constantly iterate and improve our processes
  • Use cross-functional knowledge and seek to understand issues, trends, and perspectives that may influence the business. Connect the dots for key stakeholders to drive increased alignment.
  • Craft and prepare CPO’s internal communications and presentations.
  • Exemplify empathy, inclusivity and support diversity and belonging across Lyft; foster Lyft’s culture and team member experience across the board.
  • Act as a trusted confidant and sounding board to multiple stakeholders on sensitive topics.
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate has both hands-on experience and a tenured leadership foundation in the following areas: planning & process, budgeting/financial planning, organizational change, communications & strategy execution.
  • Ability to comfortably dive into any area of the business or product, understand business needs, and facilitate executive decisions.
  • 10+ years experience in combination of operations, product management, program management, strategy, investment banking, venture capital, operations, supply chain, consulting, or an equivalent field. This role requires past experience in managing resourcing/staffing, and having worked directly with the C-suite on a regular basis.
  • Ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent projects to success. This position is expected to utilize data and metrics to communicate needs with the ease of a business unit owner.
  • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form; ability to work well with executives, and able to lead and influence across multiple levels and multiple functions of an organization.
  • Entrepreneurial, with a high tolerance for ambiguity and complexity, and efficient with limited resources.
  • Proven experience designing and leading strategic planning at a hyper-growth, product-centric company.
  • Financial prowess and ability to create budgets, models, etc.
  • A good sounding board for others, with low ego, and ability to anticipate the needs of a busy executive and their direct staff.
  • Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information.
  • Strong emotional intelligence – someone who can read people, understand their motivation and background, understand what their needs/wants and the ability to play to different audiences.

This role will be in the San Francisco office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the San Francisco office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.

The expected range of base pay for this position in the San Francisco Bay area is $184,000- $230,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
