Role expectations and responsibilities

At Smarkets, we're hiring a Founder Associate who thrives in the unconventional – someone ready to dive into cool and experimental projects that push boundaries. Reporting to the COO and working closely with the CEO, you will play a central role completing a variety of initiatives. Your role will be dynamic, hard work, involving a variety of initiatives, each presenting unique challenges. Some projects may not see the light of day, but this breadth is intentional – we believe that exploring different directions fosters continuous learning.

Adaptability is key in this role. You'll be pulled in various directions, contributing your skills to a range of exciting initiatives. Whether implementing projects towards success or embracing the lessons learned from those that may not materialise, your journey at Smarkets will be characterised by constant challenges and a hands-on approach to learning.

Responsibilities:
  • Be the “right hand” and trusted advisor to the executive team.
  • Support the CEO in managing his corporate PR and external communication duties.
  • Take a proactive approach to internal meetings, ensuring that agendas are well-prepared and materials are ready for review, contributing to the efficiency of discussions.
  • Manage and execute tasks related to board matters, ensuring smooth operations and compliance.
  • Drive research, analysis, and provide insights, supporting the CEO and the COO in exploring critical business strategies, business development, and product development projects.
  • Take charge of cross-functional projects, providing leadership to ensure the company achieves its objectives and reaches milestones effectively.
Role Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of experience in a demanding and fast-paced business environment eg management consulting or investment banking.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • A passion and commitment for what you do - you’re willing to work hard and can handle various projects at once.
