**This role reports into our Boston HQ office Monday-Thursday (remote flexibility on Friday).**

We are looking for a Claims Handler to join our Risk & Insurance team in a first of its kind role. As a Claims Handler, you will investigate how losses occur, confirm who is the responsible party and adjust the claim accordingly. The Claims Handler will work closely with the Claims Manager to develop skills to effectively investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle claims in a timely, fair and efficient manner and provide exceptional service to our customers. A successful candidate will need to have outstanding conflict management and problem solving skills, ability to multitask and resolve a large variety of claims. This position will also have the opportunity to stretch into broader insurance and risk management work as the need arises.

What You'll Do

  • Investigate, evaluate and settle customer claims 
  • Determine whether the claim can be tendered to a third party
  • Screen claims for fraud
  • Drive best-in-class handling of commercial casualty and property damage claims, ensuring appropriate internal and external stakeholder coordination 
  • Conferring with legal counsel when needed
  • Provide exemplary service levels and ensure a positive customer experience while reducing claim costs

What You'll Need

  • 1+ years in insurance, customer service, or related field
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Analytical skills to evaluate Wayfair’s responsibility for each claim
  • The Claims Handler must consider multiple pieces of information to carefully reach a decision on each claim 
  • Top-notch communication skills to gather information from individuals, including medical experts, claimants, witnesses and other third parties
  • Attention to detail to carefully review damaged property and documents
  • Interpersonal skills to speak with claimants and other relevant individuals 
  • Ability to obtain an adjuster license within six months of joining
