We are seeking a Cloud FinOps Engineer to join the Elastic team and you will play a crucial role in developing and running the tools and systems that enable our internal teams to supervise their cloud spending efficiently and easily identify potential optimization. Your focus will be on building, deploying, and maintaining solutions and driving our company wide FinOps practices.

Some of the things you'll work on
  • Design, build, and maintain tools and dashboards to provide real-time insights into cloud costs and usage.
  • Develop automated solutions for supervising and reporting cloud spend across various teams and projects.
  • Provide actionable recommendations for cost optimization, including resource right-sizing or waste identification.
  • Work closely with engineering, finance, and product teams to understand their requirements and provide tailored cost management solutions.
  • Assist teams in interpreting their cost data and taking the right decisions on implementing best practices for better resource efficiency.
  • Conduct training sessions and create documentation to empower teams with the knowledge to manage their own cloud spend effectively.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in cloud computing and FinOps.
  • Continuously improve processes, tools, and documentation to enhance cost visibility and control.
  • Drive initiatives to improve the accuracy and efficiency of cost monitoring and reporting systems.
What You Bring Along:
  • You have strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • You have proven experience in cloud infrastructure management, SRE, or FinOps roles.
  • You have a strong desire to optimize resource usage in cloud environments and work on automation which allows us to achieve this at large scale. You are proficient in scripting and engineering automation solutions (e.g. in Python, Golang).
  • You are familiar with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • You work with a high level of autonomy, and are able to take on projects and guide them from beginning to end. This covers both technical design and working with other engineers to develop needed components.
  • You're comfortable developing collaboratively. Giving and receiving feedback on code and approaches and APIs is hard! Bonus points if you've collaborated over the internet because that's harder. Double bonus points for asynchronous collaboration over the internet. That's even harder, but we do it anyway because it's the best way we know how to build software.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Like we said, collaborating on the internet is hard. We try to be respectful, empathetic, and trusting in all of our interactions. And we'd expect that from you too.
  • Preferably, you already possess a FinOps certifications and/or cloud provider specific certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Certified, Google Cloud Certified).
