About the team and role

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Counsel to support our business in the Middle East which currently includes operations in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait. The successful candidate will  report into our Legal Director responsible for these markets and sit within our UAE team. This position will be based in our Dubai office.

What you'll be doing

  • Be able to advise on appropriate actions for any commercial agreement supply or demand side (including drafting and negotiating).
  • Support the partner teams, to ensure that Deliveroo provides the best selection in every neighbourhood it operates in.
  • Support the marketing team launch campaigns both online and offline, including drafting terms and conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and necessary legislative changes.
  • Coordinate the rollout and update of legal terms, policies and product features for the Deliveroo business in the Middle East.
  • Resolve consumer complaints and handle commercial intellectual property issues and disputes.
  • Proactively identify and support process improvements within the legal team to help improve and lead excellent and efficient legal support.
  • Identify the need for external legal advice, while exercising appropriate cost management and control with all suppliers.
  • Provide on the ground support for the Employment legal team on local issues in the Middle East.
  • Travel to and spend time on the ground in each of the Qatar and Kuwait offices at least on a monthly basis.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years Post-qualification Experience in the commercial department at a leading law firm or in-house function
  • Excellent academics and training.
  • Fluency in English and ideally Arabic. 
  • Ability to thrive in high impact / high profile scenarios is essential
  • Curiosity and hunger for learning and happy to “roll sleeves up” and turn your hand to anything.
