Supported by the Finance Director (FD), the Commercial Finance Manager is responsible for the oversight, delivery and integrity of the balance sheet and P&L. They are the commercial driver of the business, providing insights to drive revenue growth, competitive advantage and sustainability of costs for business units.

They will assist and mentor our revenue accountant and be the link between our internal finance team and our Group shared service partners who deliver our payroll, reporting, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. They will maintain and oversee AKQA’s financial control framework, and collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver successful processes.

This role can be full or part-time, depending on the candidate's preferences and level of experience.

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Responsible for oversight and delivery of the balance sheet and P&L
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the monthly accounts
  • Key liaison point with shared services and first point of contact for queries and issues resolution
  • Review and sign off monthly reporting
  • Upload monthly results into the reporting system
  • Preparation and sign off of quarterly reports
  • Manage the year end audit with our external auditors
  • Preparation of monthly financial dashboards for the Finance Director
  • Client and Job profitability analysis
  • Working capital reporting
  • Ad Hoc reporting
  • Some billing and GL responsibilities until we full transition to a shared service model
  • Contribute to the broader finance team and meet AKQA & WPP requirements.

 

QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • 7+ years of related finance experience, ideally has been in a Finance Manager or Commercial Finance position for 2+ years
  • Accounting Qualifications or studying towards (CA/CPA/ACCA) preferred but not essential if you have extensive agency experience.
  • Approachable and confident approaching others.
  • High levels of numerical logic and commercial understanding.
  • Be able to analyse the business and identify areas of commercial growth
