Operating as the right hand to the VP, Commercial Strategy and Transformation, we are seeking a dynamic, strategic minded and analytically-driven individual to fill the role of Commercial Strategy & Transformation Principal. This person will work directly with key Line of Business (LoB) leadership and cross-functional business stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations) to analyze industry, market and competitive trends, pull together a 360 business performance view, and develop strategic plans and transformational roadmaps to identify the highest leverage growth and efficiency opportunities, build and manage the LoB budget and rhythm of the business, and hold cross-functional teams accountable to transformational OKRs.  

The successful candidate will have a strong background in strategic thinking, business management and change management with the ability to influence a varied set of cross-functional stakeholders and be exceptional at simplifying and communicating complex plans and objectives.

SHOULD YOU ACCEPT THIS CHALLENGE...

  • Strategy Development: 
    • Help develop the 3-5 year strategy for Pure’s Commercial Line of Business
    • Prepare presentations which outline the strategic rationale for strategic moves, GTM investments, and partnerships
    • Provide executive decision and corporate scenario planning support
    • Develop, drive, and articulate various strategies based on competitive analysis, modeling, market trends and industry knowledge
  • Business Planning, Governance & Execution: 
    • Establish a robust governance framework for setting, driving, and measuring cross-functional OKRs related to the transformation of the Commercial business
    • Ensure the LoB is prepared to illustrate status of key performance measures and cross-functional OKRs at any point in time
    • Build regular cadences for LoB decision-making and key business reviews including establishing the narrative and the key dependencies for success
    • Headcount planning, expense & budget planning, P&L forecasting
    • Lead the outcome-based internal communications strategy for the LoB, ensuring clarity, consistency, and audience relevance
  • Performance Analysis: 
    • Conduct in depth analysis of performance metrics, financial data and market trends to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making
    • Translate data effectively into impactful insights and presentations. Create financial models to support strategy execution
  • Program / Change Management: 
    • Oversee key projects and initiatives from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, timeline and budgets 
    • Lead change management efforts that address the specific needs of each theater’s commercial and SLED businesses, ensuring that the most effective approaches are adopted to bring our Sales and Partners teams along, collaborate with department heads and teams across the organization to ensure alignment and integration of transformation efforts into all functional areas
    • Serve as a liaison between GM and org leaders fostering communication, alignment and collaboration to drive results

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with at least 2 years in management consulting (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Deloitte), private equity or top-tier tech strategy or ‘biz ops’ functions (e.g., Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc.)
  • GTM experience with topics such as but not limited to: market segmentation, coverage models, Field and Inside Sales effectiveness, productivity improvement, channel strategy, revenue acceleration, GTM structure design, etc.
  • Experience in managing projects and delivering cross-functional large-scale transformations
  • Robust analytical skill set mixed with intellectual curiosity and open-mindedness to accelerate change
  • Strong demonstrated program management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to inspire teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to Executive audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred or “direct promote” in Consulting
  • Experience in the B2B technology industry is a must, knowledge of the data storage industry is a plus
  • You will be based in Santa Clara, CA.  As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office for 3 days a week. As outlined in Pure's Hybrid Work Policy, there will be variations over periods of time, depending on business need.

The annual base salary range is: $172,000 – $310,000. Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations.

This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
