We're the home for the strategic direction of the business, partnering with the Commercial Leadership Team to both define the Retail strategy and works cross-functionally to deliver it. We lead some of our largest and most complex change programmes. We also work alongside Corporate Finance to influence some of the most pivotal questions around future valuation and longer-term financial planning for OVO Group, delivering discrete initiatives and special projects to support this strategic direction.
This role in a nutshell:
OVO’s commercial strategy team is recruiting for a Strategy Manager on a 12 month fixed-term contract. This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional individual to work across a range of high profile projects, and with the role providing springboard into strategy, marketing or finance.
You'll work directly with members of the Commercial Leadership Team to support the creation of our strategy, drive critical priorities and business activity. You will work with the Commercial Strategic Partner on high-impact projects and initiatives that align with long-term business objectives and act as a critical friend.
Working as part of the strategy team, you'll have a cross functional role to work closely with other teams within OVO to optimise and align across strategy, priorities, business plans and associated budgets.
Your key outcomes will be to:
- Work closely with members of the Commercial Leadership Team (CLT) and their teams, building positive relationships and supporting day-to-day collaboration across the business. Act as a reliable team member who helps connect different parts of OVO.
- Support and lead on a diverse range of strategic topics across the Commercial team by helping with planning, research, meeting preparation, follow-up tasks and delivery. You will typically be involved in supporting 1–2 live projects at a time. Example projects might include: identifying new growth areas for OVO, preparing for new product launches, identifying new channel opportunities for growth.
- Work closely with OVO’s corporate finance team across a broad spectrum of topics that require commercial support.
- Support the mid-year and annual planning processes by coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and gathering input from different teams. Help ensure plans are well-organised and shared clearly across departments.
- Support the setup and coordination of governance processes within specific areas of the business. Develop strong relationships throughout the organisation to make sure ways of working are consistent and well-organised
- Join regular performance meetings with OVO’s commercial leadership team and take responsibility for capturing actions and following up on key topics. Help track progress on strategic initiatives and support reporting of results and insights to senior stakeholders.
- Support collaboration between the Commercial team and other key departments such as Operations, Technology, CABAM and Central Functions. Help coordinate meetings, follow up on actions, and ensure updates are shared across teams.
- Help prepare clear and engaging material for meetings, events, and senior audiences (I.e. Executive Leadership Team and Board). Support the development of documents that explain business strategy and progress, including materials for company-wide communications.
You’ll be a successful Commercial Strategy Manager at OVO if you…
- Have experience in a strategy, commercial, or analytical roles across consulting, high-growth start-ups, or corporate strategy.
- Enjoy breaking down complex problems. You bring a structured approach to problem-solving and are comfortable working with data to support your thinking and decisions. Experience with SQL is a bonus (but not a requirement).
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills and are comfortable working with others to help keep projects on track. You’re proactive and take ownership of tasks, even when the path isn’t fully clear.
- Enjoy working with people from across different teams and functions. You’re good at building relationships, listening, and contributing positively to group dynamics.
- Are motivated by making a difference and have a real interest in the journey towards zero carbon living. You’re keen to learn more about the sector and how businesses can drive positive change.
- Are energised by working in fast-moving environments and are open to change. You’re not afraid to ask questions, suggest new ideas, or get stuck into something unfamiliar.
- You may not have had direct exposure to exec-level stakeholders yet, but you’re confident in creating clear, concise communications and aspire to grow into roles that influence strategic decision-making.

We’ll pay you between £60,630 and £75,000, depending on your specific skills and experience.
We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.
You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
