SBK was founded to fix betting – a broken industry full of deceptive practices, lousy technology and expensive transaction fees.

Role expectations and responsibilities

We are looking for a passionate Sports Operations Specialist who loves sports and wants to immerse themselves in the operational side of sports and sports betting while actively growing and engaging our community of users. Your focus will be on staying up-to-date with the latest developments, trends, and news in the sports world, particularly in the realm of sports betting, and applying this knowledge to ensure smooth operations and an exceptional user experience.

The position of Community Manager - Sports Operations is key to our success in the US. You will report directly to our Head of International Markets and sit at the center of several exciting growth initiatives (think “startup within a startup”). Being open-minded, gregarious, having an eye for detail, and the ability to root and articulate your opinions from data will allow you to excel at Smarkets.

Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed about various sports, events, and sports betting trends to support operational decision-making

  • Monitoring of local sports site performance in real-time

  • Monitor and analyze sports betting data and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and operational enhancements

  • Assist in planning and executing sports-related events, promotions, and campaigns to drive user engagement and activity

  • Act as a key point of contact for sports- and product-related inquiries and issues, providing timely and accurate information to both internal teams and users

  • Work closely with the product development team to provide insights and feedback on features and functionality of the app

  • Business development activities to increase the consumer base

  • Commercial development and partnership negotiations

  • Key strategic initiatives with senior management

  • Bolster SBK’s presence on social media with a focus on community building 

  • Identify and engage with social media content that aligns with SBK’s social media goals

  • Build out and manage short and long-term content strategies for ongoing channel management and growth

  • Organize, plan and deliver promos, contests and giveaways across all social channels together with the broader marketing team

  • Refine appropriate brand voice across platforms

  • Support the day-to-day execution and optimisation of various community-building campaigns:

    • Paid media (paid social, programmatic)

    • ASO

    • SEO

Role Requirements:

  • Operations experience or proven efficiency and effectiveness in an operation (day to day role)

  • Hunger to transform an industry and improve the lives of consumers

  • Passion for sports and a strong understanding of various sports, leagues, and sports betting concepts

  • Resourceful and scrapping with an eagerness to learn more

  • Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and communication skills

  • Experience building and leading communities

  • Comfortable managing concurrent projects in an ever-evolving, fast paced landscape

  • Ability to function as a self-start with emphasis on getting things done with focus on efficiency

  • Experience working with social media platforms and streaming platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, TikTok, Twitch)

  • Quality focus and attention to detail

  • Flexibility to work weekends and during key sporting events (offset with a lighter schedule or comp days outside of these periods
