This is a unique opportunity to join a small but mighty team and help us build regulatory compliance infrastructure from the ground up. Pinterest has a global presence and there is increasing regulatory oversight and compliance requirements imposed on the industry. As Regulatory Compliance Lead, you’ll work with cross-functional partners to track, document and understand this legislation, and lead the development and implementation of operational compliance frameworks to ensure compliance with these new requirements, including the EU Digital Services Act.  

This cutting-edge, fast paced, creative work is critical to ensuring that Pinterest is complying with its legal requirements and so we can continue to be a safe, positive place on the internet that brings inspiration to millions of people around the world. This role will be based in the U.S. and report to the Director & Assistant General Counsel, Regulatory Compliance & Corporate Investigations.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and implement operational compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) and other proposed and emerging EU, UK and US regulations.
  • Partner closely with the Public Policy, Legal, Product, Engineering, and Community Operations teams to track and document the development, understanding, and implementation of the legal regulatory compliance requirements and associated risk profile for Pinterest; identify potential gaps and risks; and create compliance mitigation strategies to prepare for implementation of new regulations.
  • Where appropriate, advise cross-functional partners and control owners on control design, documentation, monitoring and testing.
  • Implement a monitoring and oversight program for the DSA.
  • Oversee DSA risk assessment, mitigation, and reporting process; collaborate with internal stakeholders to advise on and track risk mitigation measures; formalize and operationalize a scalable process for future DSA risk assessments.
  • Organize and supervise DSA independent audits; work with internal stakeholders to prepare documentation and facilitate audit; track implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Test (qualitatively and operationally) DSA and other regulatory compliance controls and make recommendations on how we can strengthen the overall control environment.
  • Assess Pinterest’s compliance with relevant DSA codes of practice and implement new compliance processes as necessary.
  • As needed, assist the Head of DSA Compliance with preparation and presentation to senior leaders and management body and support team-wide Compliance program development and project management.

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or operational audit.
  • Basic familiarity with key laws and regulatory frameworks impacting social media platforms (for example, in the areas of content moderation and online safety, data privacy, digital advertising, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, sanctions, money laundering, third-party risk, copyright).
  • Strong project management skills. Demonstrated ability to build relationships, collaborate and lead a cross-functional project, and use influence to ensure execution.
  • Organized and detail-oriented; loves process but knows when to be flexible.
  • Excellent communicator with ability to talk about risk and controls in simple language and break down complex compliance requirements into easy-to-understand concepts.  
  • Experience conducting or supporting compliance audits, risk assessments, and control design, monitoring, and testing.
  • Proven ability to identify, prioritize and address compliance risk.
  • Exceptional judgment and impeccable integrity.
  • Proactive self-starter.
  • Willingness to work across jurisdictions and time zones, and travel.
  • Facilitates and contributes to a more diverse and inclusive team environment.
