What You’ll Do
- Act as a key advisor to the business on client risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Report directly to the Head of Risk & Compliance, Europe
- Monitor and help steer compliance risk exposure across the Dutch and European business, creating clear management information to support decision-making.
- Take ownership of internal and external regulatory reporting (DNB, FIU, PSD2, AMLD, GDPR, etc.), ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
- Drive the execution of the annual Risk & Compliance plan, setting quarterly milestones with the compliance analyst and tracking delivery.
- Engage directly with the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) on regulatory queries, inspections, and ongoing relationship management.
- Support regulatory horizon scanning and embed new regulatory developments (Dutch and EU-wide, e.g., PSD2, AMLD6) into business processes and controls.
- Liaise with internal functions to embed compliance risk management in the first line.
- Guide the growth and development of compliance team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Guide the business on client risk and monitor the risk exposure of the growing client book
- Drive regulatory reporting, manage the provision of MI and the reporting calendar
- Manage the execution of the compliance year plan by defining quarterly milestones together with the compliance analyst
- Gradually engage with the home regulator (DNB) and manage part of the relationship
- Oversee the regulatory horizon scanning
- Engage in the growth and development of the compliance analyst
- Pre-approve high-risk clients
- Liaise with DNB on ad hoc queries
- Undertake policy updates and reviews, risk assessments and control testing
- Oversee updating of controls in line with European developments
- Create compliance MI and reporting
Who You Are
What need
- 5+ years of managerial experience in regulatory compliance in the financial industry
- 2+ years of experience managing internal stakeholders
- Experience with interpreting the requirements from DNB (and European regulators)
- Experience with setting up regulatory reports
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (AMLD, Wwft, Wft, PSD2, DORA)
- Effective communication skills
- Native/Fluent Dutch speaker
- Cultural sensitivity
- An eye for detail
- A hands-on approach, concise and clear style
Nice to haves
- Proficiency in Spanish or French
- Payments/e-money experience
